**Term**: Permanent Full Time

**The Opportunity**: Equitable Life is looking for a Intermediate Underwriter to join our Individual Insurance team The Intermediate Underwriter plays a key role in risk assessment for both life and critical illness products. This position is critical to Equitable success, and is a great opportunity to work at one of Waterloo Region’s Top Employers while developing skills for the future.

**What you will be doing**:

- Assess each risk on its own merit using the benchmarks provided in the internet-based underwriting manuals as guideline - incorrect decision could mean early mortality, jeopardizing mortality experience
- Communicate accurate information through managing your daily workflow to ensure service standards are met
- Provide excellent customer service while building positive relationships with internal and external clients

**What you will bring**:

- Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written would be an asset
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability
- Strong written, verbal and product knowledge skills, ability to impart knowledge to others work in a team environment
- Good knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Strong medical knowledge and understanding of non-medical risk factors
- FLMI / FALU designation or currently working towards
- Commitment to continuous learning and participation in education enhancement to remain current with medical knowledge and industry underwriting trends
