As our Security Team Lead, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. You will help provide a safe and secure environment to support the delivery of excellent patient care and lead our team of security guards. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the security and the safety of staff, patients, physicians and others on the site, while also protecting property and information. Whether you aspire to a career in Security, or it’s a stepping stone to Law Enforcement or something else, you'll gain invaluable experience working in mental health.
**What you’ll be doing**:
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to team of security professionals
- Patrol interior and exterior of facility to ensure personal, building, and equipment security
- While on patrol, monitor risks such as unlocked doors, blocked entrances and exits, hazardous material, and additional breaches of security
- Respond to varied emergencies such as calls for assistance, fire alarms and incidents of aggression
- Respond to all emergencies in person, taking a leadership role under all Emergency Codes
- Work with Switchboard to determine the status of any such emergencies and whether or not local emergency services may be required, such as police, fire and ambulance
- Monitor situations, cameras, property and events
- Provide up-to-date and accurate verbal and/or written reports on all site activity and incidents that occur
- Monitor and screen visitors, preventing unauthorized entry; be confident and composed when resolving disruptions
- Enforces Homewood’s smoke-free policy
- Ensure the security of the site and the safety of the public, staff and others on site.
**What we’re looking for**:
- Fully licensed Security Guard in the province of BC
- Minimum 6 months’ relevant experience with security, police, fire or other security service
- Ability to work various shifts including day, evening, nights and weekends
- Experience within a hospital setting is preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid certification; recertification to be completed annually
- Ability to assess and evaluate situations and implement de-escalation techniques
- Knowledge of and experience handling aggressive behaviours
- Ability to handle private information with a high amount of discretion
- Ability to write comprehensive reports and maintain routine logs
- Ability to make immediate decisions, while maintaining composure, in emergency response situations with mínimal supervision
- Homewood Health promotes a fair and competitive compensation model. Pay rates are tailored to reflect differences in operating environments and job requirements. Compensation is influenced by many factors including compensation principles or approach for a role or job function, organizational tenure, experience, qualifications or premium skills, external competitiveness, internal comparability, geography and work performance. The hourly rate for this role is $29.96 per hour._
