Finance Assistant, Accounts Payable

**FINANCE ASSISTANT, ACCOUNTS PAYABLE**
**INVEST OTTAWA - OPERATIONS**
Reporting directly to the Manager, Accounting, the Finance Assistant, Accounts Payable role will be performing a variety of core accounting functions as well as supporting all Invest Ottawa (IO) partners. Focusing on accounts payable and staff expense reporting, the role will ensure that invoices are coded properly and paid according to vendor terms.
- 10 days per month required in the office at Bayview Yards
**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
- Enter a high volume of vendor invoices into the accounting system
- Create or edit Vendor data, including banking data, in the accounting system
- Create or edit Purchase Orders
- Process all expense reports submitted by IO staff
- Support preparation of weekly vendor payments
- Work with staff as required to solve issues related to invoicing and payment
- Perform related clerical duties, such as maintaining filing and record systems
- Responds to internal department inquiries, maintains good relations, and solves problems
- Assists with external audit by compiling supporting documents as requested
- Act as a backup for accounts receivable functions during absences
- Other duties as assigned by one’s manager
**WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER**:
- Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles including accounting controls
- Team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues and quickly integrate into the organization, while ability to work independently
- Strong service orientation: ability to build trust quickly with clear communication skills.
- Organizational skills to stay on top of inquiries
- Data entry skills with accuracy and speed
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity Microsoft Business Central is an asset
- Equivalent preparation to college certificates or a diploma in Accounting/Finance
- 1+ year work experience as Accounts Payable or in a similar role
