**Are you mechanically inclined and excited to oversee the maintenance and safe operation of a fleet of front end loaders?**

**Do you enjoy leading a team and assisting new hires with learning the skills required to safely operate equipment?**

**Do you have the precision, planning, and execution skills to oversee the efficient and safe operation of a distribution yard that fills hundreds of orders a day?**

**Position**:Full-time, part-time, casual. Our operating hours are 7:30-5:30 through the week and 8:30-4:30 on weekends, so your evenings are your own.
- **Summer work is guaranteed until Oct 31st at the latest, and employees can transition to Winter work (snow removal) if interested._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure efficient operations of the distribution yard through supervision of all outside staff members
- Become familiar with all products that CLS carries, how these products relate to each other, and how they are incorporated into a landscape project
- Educate customers and staff on the products and services CLS Landscape Supply offers
- Load customers with aggregates, pallets, and other materials as needed
- Ensure that daily vehicle maintenance checks are performed and documented
- Help with maintenance and light repairs of equipment as required
- Oversee an equipment maintenance program that is consistent and well-documented
- Ensure that all orders for the next day are prepared and ready for delivery
- Perform regular counts on inventory to ensure stock levels are maintained appropriately
- Unload shipments of landscape materials from delivery trucks; sort and place them in appropriate areas. Provide supervision and direction to team members while they perform this task
- Sort, build, and load landscape materials onto delivery trucks for delivery to customers
- Be continuously engaged in yard improvement and tidy-up projects
- Experience leading a team
- Mechanical skills are considered greatly beneficial though not required
- Experience in landscaping, construction, or gardening is beneficial though not required
- Able to regularly lift 20-50 lbs, and up to 100 lbs with assistance
- Organizational skills are required as you will be sorting and stacking materials daily
- Customer service skills/personable attitude - you will interact with customers regularly
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions independently and on the fly
- Ability to work independently and towards goals
- Math skills are beneficial, though resources exist to aid in calculations
- Must be able to work 10-hour shifts in a construction-like environment (hazards present include insects, dust, debris, loud noises, heavy equipment operation, and exposure to the elements when working outside)
- Must have reliable transportation as we are not located on transit lines

The Outside teams are a key part of the fulfilment of the promises we make to our customers, which sets the standard for what they will expect moving forward. The outside team is responsible for maximizing client relations and maintaining high ethical standards in all aspects of communication and behaviour throughout the sales generation process. The company’s brand and reputation rely on the proper execution of the responsibilities of this role. The areas of accountability are as follows:

Overseeing the performance of Yard Operators to ensure CLS standards are met. provide additional training for Yard Operators as required

Promptly attending to customer needs.

Reduce downtime and repair costs of equipment by ensuring that staff properly maintain and take care of equipment

Keeping the Landscape Yards up to the CLS standard of organization and cleanliness.

**Accountabilities**
- Deliverable 1 - Oversee the performance of Yard Operators_

Ensure that CLS standards are being met in the yard on a daily basis.

Provide training or resources for training to Yard operators to ensure that they are performing up to CLS standards.

Communicate with the Location Manager/General Manager as required to ensure that yard stock and mechanical needs are being met.

Oversee the mechanical upkeep of all yard equipment to ensure that we experience as little downtime as possible.

Always be the first to greet a customer that is in the yard.

Attend to the customer's needs immediately if not already working with a customer. IE. If you are cleaning up garbage in the yard, stop that task to help the customer first.

Understand the yard layout and location of items to always be able to help direct a customer to what they need. Never send a customer down to the paving stones without going with them to show what they need. Show, don’t tell.

Aid in the maintenance of an average 9/10 quality score by assisting with the customers' experience and ensuring they are exceptionally satisfied.
