**What You Will Contribute**

The Back Counter Parts Advisor plays a critical role in supporting our fire apparatus service technicians by efficiently sourcing, pulling, issuing, and tracking parts required for firetruck repairs, inspections, and maintenance.

This position ensures a fast, accurate, and organized flow of components, helping reduce technician downtime and maximizing the efficiency of our service operations. The Advisor will maintain exceptional attention to detail to ensure reliability and safety in every fire apparatus we service.

The Back Counter Parts Advisor will report directly to the Parts Manager in a 1:1 support structure.

**What You Will Do**

**Technician Support**
- Respond promptly to technician parts requests at the back counter to support efficient firetruck service and repair workflow.
- Identify and source accurate components using OEM fire apparatus catalogs, electronic parts systems, VIN/chassis lookups, build sheets, and service manuals.
- Recommend additional or related components - including kits, gaskets, mounting hardware, and fire - specific apparatus parts - to ensure complete, reliable, and efficient repairs,
- Communicate availability and order status clearly, including backorders, ETA updates, and recommended alternatives to minimize technician downtime.

**Parts Handling & Fulfillment**
- Accurately request parts, pull, stage, and prepare parts required for firetruck repair orders to support efficient technician workflow.
- Responsible for acquiring locally sourced parts and consumables by preparing, processing, and issuing purchase orders in accordance with company procurement procedures
- Charge parts to the correct repair orders and ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company and OEM requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized back-counter bins and staging areas to ensure fast access to fire apparatus components and improve overall shop efficiency.
- Process core returns, warranty parts tagging, and not-in-stock requests in accordance with OEM and dealer procedures, ensuring proper tracking and accountability.

**Inventory & Stock Management**
- Support cycle counts and overall inventory accuracy to ensure critical firetruck components are always available when needed.
- Alert the Parts Manager to low-stock, high-use, or mission-critical items to maintain optimal inventory levels for emergency apparatus service.
- Follow established dealership and OEM processes for special orders, returns, and parts handling to ensure proper tracking and accountability.
- Maintain accurate bin locations and a well-organized stockroom to improve parts accessibility and reduce delays in firetruck repairs.

**Internal Communication**
- Collaborate closely with warranty advisor, service advisors, technicians, and the shop foreman to support an efficient and uninterrupted service workflow for fire apparatus.
- Communicate pricing, availability, and part options clearly and professionally to ensure informed decisions and accurate repair planning.
- Coordinate with front counter and customer-facing parts staff on shared inventory, customer special orders, and firetruck-specific components to maintain seamless parts operations.

**Customer & Vendor Relations**
- Provide occasional support for external or internal customer requests to ensure smooth parts operations across all firetruck service channels.
- Work directly with vendors and OEM suppliers to obtain price checks, availability updates, and special-order fire apparatus components, ensuring timely and accurate sourcing.
