**JUNIOR CONTROLLER**

CMP Automation is a medium sized, vertically integrated manufacturer of turnkey automation equipment, providing custom manufacturing automation solutions to various industries. Since 1988, we have primarily supplied the automotive industry, in North America and overseas, specializing in small diameter tubing automation.

**OVERVIEW**:
CMP Automation is hiring a Junior Controller to Lead the creation of financial modelling and forecasts, operational and capital budgets and reporting for the senior management team and external parties.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Prepare/review monthly financial statements, related analysis, and bank covenant reports on a timely basis.
- Report to senior management, on a quarterly basis, significant fluctuations from budget and large or unusual variances or trends. Quarterly reports should include standardized reporting metrics, a revised forecast for the balance of the fiscal year and highlight the key areas where operational changes are required to achieve or exceed the annual budget.
- Plan and supervise activities of accounting staff, providing adequate training, support and leadership to the team. Prepare annual performance reviews for the accounting staff together with the VP of Operations and deliver feedback to the staff
- Prepare year-end working papers for external accounting firm and coordinate the completion of the annual external financial statements and corporate tax returns. Act as a liaison between senior management and the external accounting firm on all significant tax planning transactions, as required.
- Coordinate foreign exchange transactions and manage the company’s exposure to foreign currency fluctuations through conservative hedging instruments, as recommended by the company’s external financial institution and approved by senior management
- Oversee and review the job costing of all projects on a monthly basis for input into WIP calculations, month-end financials and job performance reporting.
- Responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with statutory laws and regulations and related reporting obligations including corporate income taxes, harmonized sales tax, WSIB, EHT, Employee deduction payments, etc.
- Oversee AR process (e.g. billings, follow-up, communication frequencies, etc.)
- Oversee AP process (e.g. receiving, customs, payment schedules, approval of cheque runs, etc.)
- Oversee Payroll process (e.g. payroll, employee deductions, WSIB, EHT, expense reporting, payroll disputes, etc.)
- Oversee SR&ED claim activities (e.g. procedures, financial reporting, coordination with external accountants, etc.)
- Review the adequacy of the accounting systems in use including the reports generated for financial reporting and analysis and recommend updates as required
- Administer all aspects of the company insurance policies (group, liability, assets, WSIB, etc.)
- Oversee the short term cash flow on a weekly basis.
- Prepare long term cash flow projections. Advise management of cash need projections. Ensure arrangements are made for short term and long term cash needs (e.g. banks, 3rd party, etc.)
- Administer financial reporting of year-end inventories, analysis and physical count procedures.
- Calculate and review the shop burden rate, monthly.
- Prepare profit share analysis for senior management review
- Act as Liaison with banks and lease companies.
- Maintain leases with all tenants for the property holding company.
- Prepare a statement of actual “common area” expenses, calculating proportionate shares of each tenant and adjust billings to tenants after review by the property holding company.
- Coordinate specific requests from senior management on an ad-hoc basis, as required.
- Adhere to all CMP Health and Safety rules and procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:
A post secondary diploma or degree in accounting and/or equivalent experience.

**Experience**:
A minimum of three to five years in an equivalent role.
