About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Management Analyst to join our Enterprise Data & IT planning team The Data Management Analyst will deploy standard processes and governance rules to source, collect, and maintain business data.

The Data Management Analyst will implement the data governance framework by primarily focusing on meticulously cataloging data, establishing data lineage, and curating a comprehensive business glossary using Azure Purview. This position will collaborate across departments to ensure that business & key data is well-documented, easily understandable, and aligned with our data governance policies & standards.

About Your Day
- Own and administer enterprise Data Catalog, Business Glossary, Data Lineage, and other artifacts using Azure Purview
- Develop and maintain data cataloging including metadata, data curation, business glossary, and a “data marketplace” to enable ease of understanding OCS data assets.
- Develop and maintain an exhaustive business glossary, bridging technical terms with business definitions by following a standard review & approval process with Business Stakeholders.
- In collaboration with data governance team and data stewards, define, and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.
- Develop and map data lineage of data assets using Azure Purview to trace the journey and transformation of data from source to destination.
- Collaborate with Data Engineer & Data Architect to resolve any identified gaps or inconsistencies in data lineage.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data assets, lineage, standards and procedures for the business glossary.
- Following the Data Governance framework, capture data SME and owner of the data assets in Purview.
- Ensure data assets comply with data privacy regulations and adhere to robust data security practices by collaborating with Data Governance team to tag sensitive data in Purview.
- Build a community of data owners and stewards with adequate clarity on their roles and responsibilities, while partnering up with IT to provide effective tools and frameworks to execute the job.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Merchandising, Finance, Wholesale teams and other Business teams to define data assets and provide necessary training onboard them on Purview.
- Offer training and support to end -users and Business Stakeholders on how to use Azure Purview to understand data and underlying lineage better.

About You
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 1+ years of experience working in data cataloging, data management, and governance space especially in the Azure environment or equivalent experience through academic & internship projects.
- Experience with leading edge industry tools enabling data stewardship and data cataloging, with experience with Purview is an asset.
- Consulting background is an asset
- Azure Purview Certified is preferred
- Practical expertise with data management, data architecture and big data technologies an asset
- Strong knowledge of Cloud-based capabilities and platforms, with experience in Azure and Microsoft Purview is an asset.
- Prior experience on data cataloging / data standardization, data lineage and consolidation initiatives.
- Strong SQL / SQL query skills. Track record with JSON, XML, and Databricks Parquet data structures and transformations.
- Strong grasp of scripting tools like Python, R, PySpark, etc.
- Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing Data Governance, Data Policy, and Data Stewardship.
- Skilled in making Data Governance function to be an enabler for business efficiency and results.
- Demonstrated capability of enabling practical and value driven Data Management program in working with Azure ecosystem
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Business Stakeholders and other IT functions.
- Strong understanding of records and information management and data security and privacy concepts
- Must have a technical ability and be able to implement data integration, data modeling, data cataloging workflow, etc. through a first-hand understanding.
