How you will make a difference_**
- People leadership of the members of the hardware team (hiring, performance reviews, etc)
- Consult on resource assignment to programs based on the technical requirements of the program.
- Responsible for maintaining and developing the capability profiles of technical and sub-module experts within their functional team.
- Responsible for identifying hiring alongside program managers and executing new hires.
- Responsible for continuous improvement within their department - implement metrics on team performance, improve upon existing processes and conduct retrospectives on projects to further understand ways to improve.
- Responsible for processes within the hardware team (schematic release, firmware development process, design reviews, etc)
- Coaching, mentoring, support of engineers on their team.
- Lead from the front by spending 25%-50% of time in day-to-day engineering design activities in a particular program

**Key qualifications**:

- BASc. or graduate degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related
- 5+ years of experience with electrical design or firmware development in a professional setting
- Experience with the entire product development lifecycle - bringing products all the way from prototype to final release
- Experience with spearheading processes implementation in electrical / firmware development
- 2+ years of experience with people leadership for electrical or firmware teams (experience coaching, mentoring engineers)
- Driven individual, passionate about hardware development, self-starter

**Bonus/Nice to have**:

- A passion for robotics and hardware development
- Strong software development skills (C, C++ preferred)
- Background with Linux -based Operating systems
- Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS)
- Enjoy working in a small team with big dreams
- Experience with Safety-Rated development process (IEC61508)
- Experience with firmware development in microcontrollers Cortex M4 and R4
