Job Title: Energy Modeller

What You’ll Do: As an Energy Modeller, your role will be crucial in optimizing the energy performance of our projects. You’ll conduct comprehensive energy simulations and utility consumption calculations, ensuring designs meet the standards for NECB, BC Step Code, ASHRAE 90.1, Toronto Green Standard, and LEED Certification. Your work will also involve life-cycle energy cost analysis, making a measurable difference in the long-term efficiency of our designs.

Key Responsibilities:

- Gather relevant inputs for modelling from architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Assess the envelope, considering thermal bridging effects using databases or tools like THERM.
- Build and refine energy models, executing detailed simulations to inform design decisions.
- Communicate findings in concise, detailed reports for team and client understanding.
- Generate LEED MEPC spreadsheets and life-cycle energy cost assessments.

What You Bring:

- Technical Skills: Experience with DesignBuilder (or another EnergyPlus GUI) and THERM (or similar FEA tools) is required. Familiarity with IESVE, eQUEST, RETScreen, or HOT2000 is a plus.
- Engineering Knowledge: Solid understanding of building science principles, design practices, building systems, codes, and mechanical systems.
- Communication Skills: Ability to produce clear, comprehensive reports and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Time Management: Thrive under tight deadlines and multitask across projects while maintaining attention to detail.

Your Experience & Education:

- Education: A bachelor’s degree in building science, HVAC, energy efficiency, or a related field (a master’s degree is a plus).
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in building energy modelling, with familiarity in MEP design as an asset.
- In good standing with the applicable regulatory agency.

Required Experience:

Pay: $67,500.00-$80,000.00 per year
