**The Opportunity**:
The Golden Circle is a vibrant hub for seniors in Red Deer and surrounding areas to meet, build community and enjoy the company and support of their peers and have access to outreach services, supportive programs, resources, information and health and wellness activities. Our programs are designed to enhance dignity and respect, promote independence and prevent social isolation. We are looking for a full time (37.5 hours/week) Food Services Assistant.

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Executive Director but taking daily direction from the Food Services Coordinator, the Food Services Assistant works closely with staff and volunteers to assist with preparing, cooking, and serving of fresh and frozen meals and refreshments at the Golden Circle.

**Responsibilities**:

- Help with the preparation and serving of meals and desserts.
- Ensure a continuous supply of coffee, tea, and hot water for activities and events.
- Assist with dish washing and cleaning of kitchen and appliances as required.
- Assist with taking of stock, sorting, and storing of supplies.
- Assist with catering of special groups and banquets as required.
- Portion and package frozen meal orders for pick up.
- Always maintain standards of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.
- Maintains a level of education and knowledge through regular appropriate professional development as approved by the Executive Director.
- Maintain day to day activities in absence of Food Services Coordinator.
- Work closely with all staff and volunteers helping in the area of food services.
- Other duties as assigned by the Food Services Coordinator or Executive Director.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Experience and proven ability in the food service area, Food Safe Certificate or willing to obtain one.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Catering and banquet experience an asset.
- A flexible, willing, and positive attitude.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to working with older adults.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and tight timelines.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule; Hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as required based on programs and events.

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.50 per week
