**Job Summary**
- The Procurement team is responsible for the acquisition of goods, services, construction and research procurements across 13 Faculties within Halifax, Truro and New Brunswick campuses, and works to provide the best value while ensuring compliance with university and government policies and regulations. Reporting to the Manager of Procurement, Procure to Pay Services and working closely with a team of Buyers, Senior Buyers, Customs and Accounts Payable staff, the Buyer is responsible for the day to day purchasing of a wide variety of goods and services for the University with a focus on value, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Perform end-to-end buying activities and ensure best value is obtained through data driven decision making and compliance with procurement policies.
- Collaborate with university departments to develop procurement plans. Establish strong relationships with university customers and suppliers. Act as an intermediary between suppliers, supply chains, and client departments to ensure high quality receipt of goods and services.
- Analyze commodities and services, conduct market research, negotiate terms, and evaluate supplier performance. Assess and summarize information to recommend opportunities for additional value and savings with a focus on diversity and sustainability.
- Administer the University Corporate Card Program(s) in a backup capacity for streamlined and efficient purchasing and monitor spend compliance and financial controls while providing friendly and efficient service.
- Administer the surplus program for the sale of surplus assets to achieve maximum value and reduce environmental impact by re-distributing and donating goods. Process daily customs clearances (import/export) with customers and customs broker for the most efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods.
- Perform various administrative duties in support of Procurement and Procure to Pay Services.

- The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

**Required Qualifications**
- Business/Administrative Professional and/or Accounting Diploma program with approximately three to five years’ related work experience in procurement, accounts payable or audit environments (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet demands in a high volume, deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detail.
- Strong professionalism, and interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills with utmost importance on diversity and inclusion.
