The Role

**About the role**

The Environment & Climate Sustainability CM will lead a team of geographically diverse, multidisciplinary engineers and non-engineers providing technical advice and support to a range of defense, government, and commercial clients. The team will support the company’s environmental and sustainability consulting services, focusing on climate risk, decarbonization, hazard modelling, and other services.

The ECS CM will be responsible for managing the shape and size of the ECS team in response to programmatic demand. It is anticipated that time will be approximately split between line management of the team and project tasks.

Responsibilities and Tasks include:
General:

- Contribute your own technical work.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Comply with relevant codes of conduct.
- Undertake engineering and non-engineering activities in a way that contributes to best practice.
- Act as Technical Lead on specified projects.
- Act as Technical Assurer on specified projects.
- Act as Project Manager (PM) on specified projects.
- Maintain your technical competency in your area(s) of specialization.

Role Specific:

- Manage utilization of your team:
- Liaise with PMs and Technical Leads to maintain a picture of individual task requirements as they relate to personnel skillsets, availability, and capability;- Maintain individual task assignments in appropriate tools;- Review utilization figures and forecasts from Program Directors and Program Managers (PgMgrs) to ensure staffing requirements are met; and- Monitor utilization forecasts to predict surges and dips and plan for training and internal project support.
- Manage team capacity:
- Identify capacity requirements to support the business strategy through work with Program Directors, PgMgrs, and the Capability Management Team;- Develop and maintain Job Descriptions within your reporting structure;- Conduct recruitment activities such as short listing, interviewing and selection;- Maintain the Recruitment Plan;- Ensure that all commencement activities are conducted prior to new starters joining, such as contract qualifications, security, and IT support in accordance with the BMT recruitment process;- Utilize Internal Projects, Internal Training, and external training to develop and mentor staff;- Maintain routine contact with team and associates.
- Manage team competency:
- Develop and monitor Personal Development Plans (PDPs) with your staff;- Maintain a record of ECS team’s individual skills and competencies within the appropriate tool(s);- Identify competency gaps and resultant training needs;- Develop training plans for staff within your reporting structure;- Mentor assigned Team Leads, ensure all junior staff have mentors, and senior staff have mentors as required / desired;- Support Internal Training:- Assist in the development and delivery of internal training; and- Budget management and reporting:
- Manage budgets as assigned, and deliver reports (including variance analysis, forecasts, and recommended corrective action as required) to the Head of Capability or cognizant Capability Director;
- Staff management:
- Review ECS timesheets, and approve charges to assigned accounts;- Develop and deliver performance appraisals;- Develop Performance Improvement Plans as required in conjunction with HR; and- Provide input to Senior Management for annual end of FY bonus / salary increases.
- Business Development:
- Support the Program Directors and PgMgrs in the identification of opportunities and the development of proposals;- Provide Staff with a point of contact to bring business ideas to; and- Develop networks within your domains.
- Planning and Improvement initiatives:
- Support Capability planning and improvement initiatives as required. These may include strategy and tactical execution discussions as well as process, technical, or governance improvements.
- Support Head of Capability and cognizant Capability Director as required.
- Support other CMs to assist with the above workload for their teams on an as required basis in the event of extenuating circumstances (excessive workload, leave, out of office or overseas postings, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned by the cognizant Capability Director.

**About You**

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, who possess the following knowledge, experience, and skills:
Essential:

- Security clearance to NATO Secret, or the ability to obtain;
- Comprehensive knowledge in reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices, developing and implementing strategies to address climate change, resource conservation, and environmental compliance;
- A university degree in a relevant environmental discipline;
- Minimum of 10 years of professional technical experience within the environmental, climate, or sustainability industries;
- Proven technical leadership, building, leading and influencing strong technical teams;
- Thorough knowledge of domestic and
