The Population Health Research Institute is looking for a **Research Project Coordinator** to join their team. PHRI is a joint institute of Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster University, Department of Medicine. The Population Health Research Institute is a highly successful and high-profile research group which conducts research in 102 countries targeting at improving the health of people around the world. The PHRI currently employs over 300 staff members and over 60 scientists. Currently the PHRI is conducting over 100 ongoing clinical trials and epidemiology studies. The statistical staff supports all ongoing studies, as well as the publication of the results of studies that are already closed, targeting high impact journals, with over 350 manuscripts published every year (during the most recent years). The **Research Project Coordinator** will provide specialized support by acting as the key liaison among stakeholders, enhancing the development of collaborative relationships between universities, researchers and other partners. This position will ensure that researchers are aware of funding opportunities and related initiatives. They will assist in the management of funds and the mobilization of knowledge arising from relevant research funding. Should the successful applicant be a Unifor Unit 1 bargaining unit member, who meets the eligibility conditions of Article 19.02 of the Unifor Unit 1 Collective Agreement, then the Limited Term Assignment will be defined as a Career Growth Opportunity in accordance with Article 19 of the Unifor Local 5555 Unit 1 Collective Agreement. **Accountabilities**: - Meet with faculty, staff, researchers, and students to discuss their research, their fit with water research initiatives and to review opportunities for support. - Advise faculty on opportunities to obtain external research funding to support water research. - Work closely and collaboratively with the research community, staff in the McMaster Industry Liaison Office, Health Research Services, Research Finance and McMaster Faculties, as well as staff in partner institutions. - Coordinate large and diverse cross-functional teams which may include internal researchers and staff, other academic institution personnel and external partners. - Develop and implement knowledge transfer strategies and write a variety of communication and information dissemination documents and correspondence such as newsletters, bulletins, and reports. - Act as a liaison between stakeholders locally, provincially and nationally. - Liaise with administrative support in McMaster’s Faculties to identify and support opportunities for interdisciplinary, inter-faculty research and knowledge mobilization collaborations. - Respond to requests for information regarding the interpretation of policies, directions regarding the completion of budgets, advice regarding strategic approaches to proposal development and research funding data for internal and external reports. - Work with researchers, research project staff, and other stakeholders to facilitate administrative aspects of funded projects and inter-project coordination once funding has been received. - Track all ongoing research support tasks and provide regular updates to senior administration. - Draft and edit research funding proposals. Write sections of funding proposals including the institutional sections which outline institutional resources, collaborations, and strategic directions. - Proofread and edit dissemination materials and data. - Negotiate and develop budgets with partners including other institutions, private sector, not-for-profit, federal and provincial governments, and agencies. - Write and submit reports to sponsors on research funding outcomes and the status of research projects. Ensure compliance with progress reporting deadlines and requirements - Coordinate and facilitate meetings between various stakeholders internally and externally. - Adapt to changes in funding availability or changing stipulation of granting agency or funder. - Ensure that proposals comply with University and agency policies, and protect the University from legal liabilities. - Ensure all research within area of focus has up-to-date institutional ethics and biosafety approvals
