**Position Summary**:
A Sales Associate is committed to achieving Northumberland Building Materials and Doidge Building Centres Ltd.’s service standards and maximizing sales and gross margin while providing the customers with the best shopping experience possible. The Sales Team Member will develop and maintain effective sales and oversee specific sales areas designated by the Branch Manager.

**Location**:
This position is at the RONA store in Cobourg, Ontario.

**Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to**:

- Build strong and lasting relationships with our retail, professional, and contractor customers
- Assists customers with their information/product requirements in the store or over the telephone. Through effective questioning and listening techniques, identifies and qualifies customer requirements.
- Processes sales and special orders
- Resolves customer complaints and objections including investigating, interpreting policy, and taking the appropriate action to ensure customer satisfaction, refers difficult situations to Branch Manager or Manager-on-Duty
- Understands and executes merchandising and marketing initiatives developed by management
- Ensure inventory integrity and identify potential sources of inventory losses.
- Assists with other team members’ training on sales and service techniques
- Regular attendance at scheduled meetings (Management meetings, Store meetings, Shrink and Department Walks)
- Opportunities exist for RONA training programs and formal/informal vendor training
- Works with Branch Manager to determine hiring needs, recruit and hire new team members when/if necessary
- Performs Manager-on-Duty duties if/when needed; may be a key holder
- Performs other job-related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Provide exceptional customer service by inspiring and motivating others through example
- Exemplary listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills
- Flexible availability based on store needs (includes evenings and weekends)
- Proficient computer skills and basic math skills
- Has a high sense of urgency and drive
- Able to set priorities and deliver results within deadlines
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
- Physically demanding; Use of ladders, climbing and lifting techniques when required. Light and medium lifting can be a component of this position
- First aid trained an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $16.00-$19.00 per hour

Schedule:
