**TITLE**: Elementary School Principal

**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
HongDe Elementary School is seeking a full-time Principal who will be instrumental in the growth of our Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual Independent School.

**ABOUT HONGDE SCHOOL**:
HongDe Elementary School is a not-for-profit Kindergarten-Grade 7 Independent Bilingual School. The school offers BC Curriculum education along with a Chinese (Mandarin) language program. The Mission of the school is to provide unique programming to enhance both traditional Chinese and Western culture values, while promoting virtues and character strengths. Our Campus is presently located in the Yaletown District of Downtown Vancouver, B.C.

The Name HongDe can be translated as “Promoting virtue through learning traditional culture.”

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Currently hold a non-expiring, non-restricted BC Teacher Certificate

Have a minimum of 2 years of administrative experience

Have specific and relevant experience in educational leadership

Have knowledge and expertise in the current B.C. Curriculum

Be fluent in Mandarin

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff in both academic performance and an understanding of the cultural and spiritual aspects inherent.

Oversee the effective running of the School.

Ensure a quality instructional program is implemented, including teachers’ course overviews, daily lesson planning, classroom practice and student assessment and reporting out to parents.

Maintain an educational program that meets B.C. Ministry of Education requirements.

Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programming, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students is consistent with the School’s Philosophy, Mission Statement and desired provincial curricular outcomes;
Oversee the process of admissions of new students to the school;
Ensure the educational programs of the school encourage a variety of instructional strategies and materials that are consistent with current methodology and sound educational practice;
Implement a system of meaningful teacher assessment and professional growth planning, including regular classroom visits and follow-ups;
Implement a plan of on-going, meaningful Professional Development opportunities for teachers;
Establish procedures for the evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment, and for approving resource process;
Supervise the development and implementation of extracurricular programming and activities.

**COMPENSATION**:
Salary is commensurate with experience and can range between $80k-$100k annually. Extended Benefits are provided jointly through HongDe School and Canada Life.
