Position Available: Principal, Hope Lutheran Christian School

(commencing school year 2026/27)

Who We Are

For over 30 years, Hope Lutheran Christian School has been dedicated to realising our mission to equip each child to impact the world for Christ’s glory through providing quality Christian education in the beautiful community of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Founded by Hope Lutheran Church in 1995, our school is undergoing some exciting changes and currently serves over 260 students from grades K-8 across two campuses.

We are focused on delivering high-quality educational experiences supported by an amazing community of staff who are passionate about equipping students for the future.

Be a part of our growth and transformation

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced leader in Christian education to serve as our new Principal commencing in the 2026/27 school year.

HLCS is in the midst of an exciting journey from a successful parochial school to a non-profit school association and provides a unique opportunity for an incoming Principal to help shape HLCS for the future. You have the opportunity to be at the forefront of this transformation process that will position HLCS well for growth while honouring the shared history with Hope Lutheran Church and continuing to strengthen this important relationship.

To serve in this role, you will have demonstrated your strong ability to set a strategic vision and inspire your team to achieve student-focused goals within a K-8 Christian educational setting. Your superior leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with wise and decisive decision-making abilities will be the keys to your success in continuing to build the strong community that is HLCS.

As an experienced administrator, you will bring your strong business acumen and systems thinking to this role to ensure all financial, legal, and regulatory requirements are well managed. Your leadership in Christian education pedagogy and understanding of leading educational practices based on research and best practices will ensure the continuation of HCLS’ reputation for academic and program excellence.

And finally, the right person for HLCS will be one who has a deep care and love for children and youth and wants to be part of a fun, enthusiastic, dedicated team of staff.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will have a Master’s degree in educational leadership or a suitable equivalent combination of skills, knowledge, and experience, as well as hold or be able to obtain the British Columbia Professional Teachers’ Certificate or transferable equivalent.

Most importantly, you will be able to demonstrate your commitment to a Christ-centred life through your involvement in your faith community and your understanding and acknowledgement of the mission, vision, and community standards of HLCS.

Application

To express your interest in the Principal role, please forward your cover letter, resume, and any supporting documentation to: careers@hopelcs.ca by Friday, November 28, 2025.
