**Job Profile**:
There is an immediate opening for a Trails Operator working within the Infrastructure Services Department, Operations Division. Reporting to the Supervisor of Horticulture, the following will apply:
**What you will be doing**:

- Perform duties such as operating machinery (such as small agricultural tractors, sidewalk tractors) and hand tools to maintain trails surface and encroaching vegetation as assigned by the Lead Hand and/or Supervisor.
- Change attachments on power units (mower, rotary deck to flail deck, etc.)
- Conduct risk assessments on trails, identify hazard trees and document findings.
- Assist Landscaping & Forestry Staff in related tasks for the maintenance of various trail heads, walkways, street trees and trees in parks & naturalized areas.
- Perform snow removal/ de-icing activities utilizing both machine and hand tools where required along trails, paths, and/or sidewalks.
- Cleanup of debris, emptying of garbage and recycling receptacles including bio-hazardous materials.
- Interpret, update assets and reports using assigned computing equipment.
- Report progress of assigned tasks and maintain records of work completed and outstanding as well as identifying and recording follow-up items for review and future assignment/scheduling by the Lead Hand or Supervisor.
- Grass cutting, vegetation control, maintenance and landscaping on trails, trail heads, city owned lands and facilities as scheduled or as required.
- Minor repairs and maintenance to city owned assets such as pedestrian bridge decks and railing, signage, bollards, p-gates etc.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions - including rain, snow, cold and hot conditions with appropriate PPE.
- Other duties assigned related to the general duties and scope of this role.

**Education**:
High school Grade 12 diploma or equivalent with addition course of study.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Over 6 months of work-related experience in a similar role
- Attended the OPA Trails Specialist Workshop or similar course.
- Experience and knowledge on a wide range of landscaping maintenance and grounds maintenance skills including but not limited to sidewalk/ small tractor operation with flail/ mower/ groomer/ plow.
- Basic computer skills to support use of laptops/tablets in tracking/delivery of daily work activities, accessing mapping resources (GIS Software) and work order system. Be required to access, respond and generate service requests vice requests and work orders to track and manage daily work activities.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of the safe and efficient use and basic maintenance of all job-related tools and equipment including line trimmers, articulating flail mower, rear-mount flail mower, tractor mounted trail groomer, brush chippers, agricultural/ sidewalk tractors, loader, trailer, snow blowers, chainsaws, rotary mowers, leaf blowers, sod cutters, rakes, shovels, hand-held power tools etc.
- A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license in good standing, with a driver’s abstract acceptable to the City (4 or less demerit point may be considered acceptable, considering the nature of infractions).
- Must be physically capable of performing required duties

**Your compensation**:
This position is located within our CUPE 32 (outside workers union) compensation salary schedule Job Grade 3 and has an hourly rate of pay is as follows (2025 Rate):
Starting Rate: $30.50 per hour
12-Month Rate: $31.46 per hour
24-Month Rate: $32.40 per hour

**Hours of work**:
Number of Hours Per Week: 40 Hrs./week, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
