Support Worker/ Inclusive Educator

**Join Our Team at Clever Clogs Inclusive Academy**
**Position: Neurodiversity-Affirming Support Worker (Independent Contractor)**
**PLEASE NOTE**:This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, as clear and effective interaction with children, families, and team members is essential. Prior experience supporting autistic children in a professional or educational setting is required.
Clever Clogs Inclusive Academy is a heart-centered, community-rooted initiative offering inclusive tutoring, play-based social clubs, and relationship-based naturalistic support programs. We embrace a neurodiversity-affirming approach that respects each child’s unique ways of learning, communicating, and being in the world.
We are passionate about creating spaces where all children feel safe, seen, and supported. Our work centers connection, consent, and curiosity. We don't believe in fixing children — we believe in celebrating them, co-regulating with them, and walking alongside them on their journey.
We are currently seeking a **compassionate, grounded, and reliable support person** to join our team as an **Independent Contractor** in the role of Behavioural Interventionist (BI) Support Worker. While the term “BI” is still used within te professional frameworks, our actual practice is deeply play-based, child-led, and collaborative — and not based on compliance or traditional behaviourism.
**About the Role**:
- You will work one-on-one with a child in home or community settings, offering play-based and affirming support aligned with their individualized plan.
- You will collaborate with families, therapists, and team members to ensure the child’s voice, needs, and interests remain at the center.
- You’ll help implement learning opportunities, co-regulation strategies, and supportive routines — with an emphasis on relationships and joy.
- You’ll contribute to creating safe, sensory-respectful spaces and be part of a team that values mutual learning and reflection.
**What We’re Looking For**:
- You are studying or have training in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Inclusive Education, Speech & Language, or a related field — or have lived experience and strong relational intuition.
- You communicate with warmth, clarity, and respect.
- You enjoy connecting with children of diverse neurotypes and see their strengths.
- You are open to learning, reflective practice, and collaborative problem-solving.
- You can commit to the family and the hours assigned for at least 6 months.
- You are 19+ years old and legally able to work in Canada.
- You have access to a vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
- You are able to provide a recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check.
**Bonus**: You have experience supporting non-speaking children, or bring knowledge of sensory integration, play therapy, or DIR/Floortime.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual, Freelance
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week
**Benefits**:
- Flexible schedule
Work Location: In person
Expected start date: 2025-08-30
