**CLASSIFICATION**:Low Arousal Support Consultant - **1**TFT (75.00 Hours bi-weekly).*
**POSITION SCOPE**:Responsible to the HR Director & Organizational Effectiveness, the Low Arousal Support Consultant provides education to Low Arousal Trainers and Coordinators on the the Low Arousal program and establishes/achieves program goals and objectives consistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre (KRRC). The Low Arousal Support Consultant teaches the organization Low Arousal Approaches and how to program manage its effectiveness, in order to manage behaviors and reduce all restrictive practices.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Teaches Low Arousal Course to KRRC LA educators and LA Trainers, as well as Low Arousal Philosophies.
- Advises LA Managers, LA Trainers and LA Educators on behaviors associated with LA and when to utilize the LA approach for effectiveness. Authorizes certification of the Low Arousal Program.
- Advises on LA preparations, bookings, documentation and communication so that the program can be self administered within the KRRC organization.
- Establishes and maintains organizational details of teaching Low Arousal and hosts courses, seminars and consultant visits to assist in complex or problematic behavior solutions.
- Provides information sessions and updates regarding research findings of Low Arousal techniques.
- Maintains records of maintenance for KRRC and Studio III to compile research, statistical findings.
- Evaluates curriculum programs and recommends improvements.
- Develops structured program content and objectives for new programs.
- Conducts statistical analysis to determine cost and effectiveness of education policies and programs for Low Arousal.
- Provides ongoing professional development, mentorship, training and consultative services to teachers and other LA professionals at KRRC.
- Develops teaching materials and other resources for program delivery of LA.
- Delivers presentations conferences on LA.
- May supervise and certify the work of other educational policy researchers, consultants and program officers with respect to Low Arousal.
- May administer specialized testing and assessment programs for LA.
- Advocates for the Low Arousal program to operate within the Human Rights framework.
- Evaluates training effectiveness and monitors training impact on organization, clients and staff.
- Provides professional development training.
- Provides support to Low Arousal Support Coordinators and makes recommendations for areas of improvement, coaching, and assessment to direct report.
- Collaborates with the behavioral management team and Low Arousal Support Coordinators to offer post-incident debriefing to individuals/teams.
- Ensures the quality assurance of the Low Arousal program implementation approaches to manage behaviours.
- Operates within a clear ethical framework.
- Encourages and supports the education of reduction of all restrictive practice at KRRC, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) techniques.
- Respects the diversity of the people they support and support anti discriminatory practices.
- Coaches LA staff on best practice as necessary.
- Increases LA staff confidence, knowledge and skills in the management of challenging behaviour.
- Instills the principles and benefits of working within a non-aversive framework within the organization.
- Works in collaboration with Human Resources to support strategic initiative of reducing (Workers Compensation Board) WCB claims.
- Works in collaboration with Behavioral Interventionalists and Psychologists to ensure best practice.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:The Low Arousal Support Consultant will be a specialist in Low Arousal Support for Behaviors and have a full certification in Low Arousal Instruction from Studio III. The Low Arousal Consultant will have spent a minimum of 5 years, including having experience in the development, training and implementation of Low Arousal with industry leaders. Atlas program would be considered an asset. Minimum of 5 years practical previous experience working with people who present challenges is required. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
**SALARY SCALE**:KRRC is a competitive salary employer. Compensation will commensurate with experience.
