NATURE OF THE WORK

As an Outreach Worker, you will play a crucial role in connecting communities with essential services, resources, and support systems. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with individuals and groups who may be marginalized, underserved, or facing various challenges, and facilitate access to relevant programs, assistance, and information. This position requires a compassionate, resourceful, and empathetic individual who is dedicated to improving the well-being and empowerment of vulnerable populations.

RESPONSABILITIES
- Community Engagement: Actively engage with community members through outreach initiatives, events, workshops, and other platforms to build trust and establish relationships.
- Needs Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the needs, concerns, and priorities of individuals and communities, taking into account socio-economic, cultural, and other relevant factors.
- Resource Referral: Connect individuals and families with appropriate resources, services, and support networks, including but not limited to healthcare, housing, employment assistance, education, mental health, and substance abuse treatment.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and interests of marginalized groups by raising awareness about systemic issues, collaborating with stakeholders, and participating in advocacy campaigns and initiatives.
- Education and Outreach: Conduct educational sessions, workshops, and presentations on relevant topics such as health promotion, financial literacy, life skills, and community resources to empower individuals and enhance their capacity for self-sufficiency.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, services provided, referrals made, and outcomes achieved, and submit regular reports as required by funding sources and organizational policies.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal staff, external partners, community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate services, leverage resources.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO FIND IN YOU
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, public health, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Previous experience in community outreach, social services, case management, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate, engage, and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Empathy, compassion, and cultural competence in working with individuals facing various challenges, including poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness, etc.
- Knowledge of community resources, social service programs, and support networks available to assist individuals and families in need.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, demonstrate flexibility, and adapt to changing priorities and environments.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and documentation/reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation may be required for certain positions.
- Fluency in oral and written communication skills in **English and French. French language skill is mandatory.**:
