**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative individual to join our Ministry of Youth team as a **Youth Employment and Training Coordinator**. Reporting to the Acting Provincial Youth Manager, the incumbent will liaise with MNBC’s Skills Training, Employment & Post-secondary Education Team and will play a key role in supporting training and employment needs of Métis youth in BC ages 15 to 30. The incumbent will develop and organize opportunities to connect youth to resources that will assist them in meeting their employment and educational needs, while addressing the diverse needs of the Métis youth citizens.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop and coordinate training and workshop opportunities for youth, such as campus tours/experiences, Métis youth group employment training strategies, and industry training opportunities.
- Facilitate job preparedness and life skills workshops including resume, cover letter, and interview strategies.
- Develop, engage, and support partnerships with various employment services, educational institutions, community organizations, and employers.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, including developing schedules and coordinating guest speakers from education institutions, elders, and community leaders.
- Host and facilitate ongoing virtual or in-person youth gatherings and events to share information, create best practices, and celebrate successes of youth.
- Connect youth with appropriate community resources that will assist in enhancing their employability, and educational needs.
- Develop funding proposals to increase current funding to support diverse projects and programs that address youth and community needs.
- In collaboration with MNBC Communications team, contribute to the creation of relevant communications content for workshops, events, and cohorts.
- Create reports and conduct program evaluations and required.
- Respond to telephone, in-person, or electronic inquiries.
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- Diploma or degree in related field.
- Experience in employment coaching, program coordination and workshop facilitation.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in B.C.
- Demonstrated ability to write and format current industry-standard resumes and cover letters.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, implement, and facilitate training and education sessions.
- Proven ability to collaborate with Métis citizens to build positive and mutually beneficial relationships.
- Ability to lead, problem solve, and utilize team-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize strong people skills to deal with others effectively.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Word, Excel and other database/software required by the role.
**OTHER COMMENTS**
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC.
- There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of normal business hours.
