**Overview**
As the Baker Research Analyst, you will be responsible for building up and delivering on one of our most valuable services for pre-construction developers.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer**, **you will be a significant contributor to Baker sales and marketing presentations and evolve into a thought leader for Baker’s market analytics. You will become Baker’s market data expert. This role will involve substantial collaboration and exposure to multiple functional groups within our organization and will be key to the collection and distillation of insights and information to support our client's development decisions.
We expect you to leverage your extensive analytics experience and be a critical thinker with the ability to assess, synthesize and succinctly communicate insights as a key contributor of the Baker team.
**Responsibilities**
Compile, review and summarize Canadian real estate market data to develop analytics and insights with a particular focus on the high-rise, mid-rise and low-rise home market in the GTA.
- Design, maintain and grow a database by gathering, evaluating and tracking industry information from a variety of internal and external sources to conduct pre-construction market research on the Canadian real estate market, with a primary focus on the GTA.
- Identify, establish, and manage relationships for sourcing market data and tools.
- Produce and deliver client-ready reports of data-driven relevant market trends, such as for project positioning and layout recommendations, for presentation to pre-construction clients, media, and buyers.
- Write / edit / create content for proposals and requests for proposals, including reviewing and proofreading, and updating as necessary.
- Systematically collect, organize, process and analyze real estate market data (comparable transactions, market stats...). Perform data modeling to forecast future and emerging trends that impact market demand.
- Develop and improve building pricing methodologies.
- Support in the development of presentations and collateral materials necessary for clients, Baker leadership or the media.
- Other duties as required.
**Qualifications**
- 3 to 5 years of experience in areas related to real estate, investment, or financial analysis; investment banking; management consulting or similar.
- Demonstrated interest and passion for real estate in general and residential developments.
- Prior experience modeling complex data relationships and scenarios; strong skills in data manipulation and visualization; setting up and querying relational databases.
- Critical thinking and ability to understand and interpret data, quickly spot likely data quality issues.
- Assertive self-starter who can work independently under mínimal supervision.
- Copywriting skills: ability to deliver professionally written documents that are adapted to the target audience, such as client presentations, service proposals, answers to requests for proposals, newsletters, blog posts, and research results.
- Eager to learn specific technical skills to improve and automate data collection.
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent numerical aptitude as well as demonstrated analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to write research reports and newsletters.
- Ability and willingness to learn and grow professionally by learning new skills.
- Very high level of ethics and personal integrity.
- Familiarity and comfort operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and energetic environment; welcomes and adapts well to change and growth.
- Ability to build credibility at all levels of the organization and externally with clients.
- Collaborative team member who can establish trust and maintain relationships.
- Strong presenter and communicator who can present to clients as required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform data processing, and analysis using MS Excel and querying Relational Databases, ability to write (or learn how to) automation scripts, use and configure visualization software such as Tableau.
