Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will supervise a group of approximately 80 Transit Operators, ensuring passenger needs are met and providing leadership and support for our team. The schedule for this role is 4 days on / 4 days off, working 12-hour shifts. This includes early mornings and / or late nights, weekends and holidays. Schedule could vary but shifts are normally 5:30 am to 5:30 pm or 1:30 pm to 1:30 am.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated aptitude for conflict resolution and customer service
- Class 1 or 2 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel) considered an asset
- Knowledge of SMI, GFI, HASTUS, WFA considered an asset
- Experience in transit scheduling considered an asset
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide direct, on-road supervision of all transit operations in Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton
- Conduct an annual formal evaluation of all Conventional, Custom and Community transit operators
- Monitor radio communications, activity at Transit Exchanges and respond to day to day on road operational issues
- Monitor radio communication to ensure correct procedures are being adhered to and in particular that passenger transfers to other routes are consistently and properly coordinated
- Perform audits of on-time performance (covertly and overtly)
- Ensure operating procedures are adhered to
- Verify compliance (and correct staff if required) with statutes and regulations
- Dispatch and make temporary changes to routing, driver and vehicle assignments as required by traffic, capacity, breakdowns or road and weather conditions
- Initiate emergency assistance procedures in the event of vehicle collisions or passenger injuries and initiate associated formal incident investigations
- Ensure that incident/collision reports are completed when required
- Maintain a daily log of events including, but not limited to missed service, late service, customer concerns, passenger pass ups, notes to driver records
- Identify workplace safety hazards, as well as develop, and implement controls
**Salary Range: $60,000 to $70,000 annually plus benefits**
