The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) works to keep energy moving safely across the country. **Duties**:
Reporting to the Director of Programs & Evaluation Team in the System Operations Business Unit, the Technical Specialist - Compliance, Safety Management works closely with other Technical Specialists, the Director, and the Safety and Damage Prevention Team to:

- develop and monitor the implementation of the Safety Compliance Verification Plan;
- implement and recommend improvements to the risk-informed Safety Planning process;
- identify priorities for safety compliance verification work;
- conduct QA/QC as required on compliance verification activity reports;
- provide coaching and recommendations regarding safety compliance program work;
- assist with development of new compliance tools;
- lead meetings and discussions with internal and external parties regarding safety compliance matters; and
- lead project working groups or multi-disciplinary technical teams to address complex issues.

The Technical Specialist - Compliance, Safety Management also serves as a process advisor on compliance processes, leading continual improvement efforts of processes and procedures used by CER safety practitioners.

Experience:
E1 *Significant experience conducting safety compliance verification of oil and gas operations (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety and/or Safety Management compliance assurance activities).

E2 Experience leading technical teams or project working groups to address complex issues. Complex issues may involve multiple factors or considerations; involvement of partners or stakeholders; or having a major impact on a Government Department or Agency, organization, workers or the public.

E3 Experience using data analysis to inform process improvements, planning, or other decision making.
- Significant means direct participation at the full working level for an extended period, approximately three or more years.

Asset Qualifications

AQ1 Experience in the development and implementation of risk-informed plans or risk models.

AQ2 Valid Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
