**Community Computer Lab** **Facilitator**

**Location**: Edmonton, Alberta

**Position Status**:Full-time (40 hours/week), One year Contract

**The Organization**

Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is an affiliate of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and has a triple mandate in education, training, and research. With a decentralized network of 9 METI-Service Centres, a Corporate Head Office in Edmonton, and two mobile service units; RLI designs and delivers training and education services to more than 140,000 Alberta Métis.

**The Opportunity**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Set up and maintain a fully functional community computer lab with all required technology and equipment.
- Deliver comprehensive and accessible in person computer training tailored to the needs of the Metis community.
- Support digital literacy and specialized software learning based on community needs.
- Design and deliver customized computer instruction tailored to the needs of the community.
- Assess learner needs and adjust instructional content and delivery methods accordingly.
- Provide real-time, ongoing technical support during sessions and assist with troubleshooting IT issues.
- Create and maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment for adult learners.
- Collaborate with RLI teams to align training content with community needs and organizational goals.
- Promote awareness of the computer lab and its services through outreach, community events, and relationship building.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

**Skills and Competencies**:

- Strategic thinker with a community-first approach, grounded in cultural respect and a commitment to equity and responsible innovation.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneDrive).
- Ability to simplify technical concepts for learners with varying experience levels.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in indigenous, rural, or community-based technological settings, building inclusive partnerships across internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with excellent verbal, written, and listening abilities to effectively facilitate training sessions.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be adaptable and flexible to changing priorities.
- Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle and maintain confidentiality for sensitive or private information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong sense of cultural and political sensitivity and awareness, with a genuine interest and respect for a diversity of people.
- Experience working in Indigenous, rural, or community-based technology settings is an asset.
- Certification in Microsoft 265 is an asset.

**Qualifications**:

- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Education, Computer Training, Adult Learning or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in delivering computer training to adults
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse learners both online as well as in-person.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and digital literacy instruction.
- Experience with online training platforms such as Zoom, Teams and other technology enhanced learning tools.

**Other Requirements**:

- Ability to work a regular schedule of 8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta, as required.
- Reliable transportation to and from the office.
- Submission of a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
