**REPORTS TO**: Director, Underwriting, New Business & Administrative Services

**SUMMARY**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Underwrite new business (Disability, Life & Critical Illness) using sound underwriting guidelines for morbidity and mortality within service standards in accordance with company guidelines
- Work within assigned authority along with reinsurance guidelines (where applicable)
- Document underwriting methodology and processes
- Communicate with field associates in answering questions, and/or advising unfavorable decisions
- Support and provide feedback to the Director in the development of new guidelines and finding efficiencies
- Accountable for meeting Objectives of the Team & engaging in the Corporate Culture
**REQUIREMENTS/ EXPERIENCE**:

- Able to work in a Paperless environment
- Knowledge of medical/legal terminology is required
- Insurance Background & Knowledge of all lines required
- University degree is an asset
- Working towards or nearing completion of LOMA, FLMI, and ALU designations
- Ability to think logically and analytically
- Sound judgment and strong decision making skills
- High accuracy level and attention to detail
- Strong Team Player and self-starter
- Strong time management and organizational skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced engaging Team Sprit environment
- Eagerness to learn and be self-motivated to develop a career path in Underwriting
- Must be computer literate, strong computer skills within a Windows environment
- Flexibility with working hours
- Bilingualism is an asset
