**ROLE MANDATE**:
An exceptional in-house opportunity to receive legal training and exposure to, and involvement in, the practical aspects of corporate commercial legal work. Under supervision, the student will provide legal analysis, as well as draft and revise a variety of legal documents and agreements in support of special projects and the day-to-day operations of Grasshopper.

**Responsibilities**:

- Drafting and negotiating a variety of legal agreements, such as non-disclosure agreements, consulting services agreements, proof of concepts, independent contractor agreements, incentive agreements and letter agreements.
- Providing contract interpretations to business clients; preparing summaries, digests and inventories of documents; and
- Conducting legal research on topics such as data handling, interpretation of legislation impacting the business, and other corporate law matters.
- Attending and taking notes at meetings and assisting lawyers in collecting legal and factual documents
- Monitoring and auditing of processes to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Communicating with opposing counsel and other parties, clients, judicial administrative staff and vendors.
- Scheduling depositions, site inspections, hearings, closings and meetings for lawyers and other legal staff
- Compile, proofread and revise drafts of legal documents and reports.
- Respond to all case-related queries.
- Ensure efficient and effective administrative information and assistance.
- Prepare and format legal and management reports.

**Education and Experience**:

- An ability to effectively undertake:

- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Critical thinking and analysis of business issues
- Strong analytical capability and judgement in evaluating business initiatives for legal implications and strategic significance
- Identification, assessment, and quantification of legal risk
- Independent problem-solving with the ability to work with teams that have diverse skills and knowledge
- Proactive time management and project prioritization, and diligent management of issues
- Internal stakeholder and team engagement Strong research skills

**Other Requirements**:
Law Degree from an accredited institution

**Job Types**: Full-time, Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 4 months

**Salary**: $15.50-$18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Oakville, ON L6H 0C3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
