**Permanent Full-time opportunity**

Under the direction of the Administrator, the Human Resources (“HR”) Specialist is responsible for coordinating many of the day-to-day HR and Health & Safety (H&S) functions for the Home. Duties will focus on, metrics/data analysis, research, workflow efficiencies, recruitment processes, supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committee, coordinating the activities related to WSIB claims management, non-occupational disability management, hazard and risk assessment, health and safety audits, and various compliance matters for both HR and H&S. The HR Specialist will also support the Administrator with various tasks, projects, research and initiatives.
- **This job has limited “employee-facing” responsibilities and acts as more of a resource for back-office type HR functionality. Opportunity for growth to a full HR Generalist exists for the successful individual in this role.**_

- Conduct research, collect data, and provide analysis on various aspects of HR and H&S programs, policies, and corporate projects - identify trends, make recommendations, and prepare reports.
- Improve workflow effectiveness through automation of department processes and tools, including standardization of HR-related forms, documented work procedures and employment documentation.
- Produce reports and statistical information; analyze trends and present findings and/or recommendations to assist the management team in managing their workforces.
- Responsible for the recruitment and retention functions of the Home.
- Provide coordination, research, communications, and support to the Administrator, with respect to labour relations and employee services.
- Provide employee and labour relations support to managers, which may include note taking in meetings, providing guidance on past practices, etc.
- Coordinate and support external HR Consultants with projects and more complex workplace investigations.
- Identify, develop, and promote staff education related to HSW needs.
- Prepare and track Safety Talks, participating in the delivery of the same, as required.
- Coordinate or conduct incident investigations, in conjunction with department managers; prepare reports and make recommendations for corrective actions; track and follow-up on recommendations.
- Assist the Director of Administration in the areas of benefits enrollment, non-occupational injury STD/LTD disability claims, disability claims adjudication, return to work planning and support, etc.
- Administer WSIB claims, including completion of Form 7.
- Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
- Related duties, as assigned.

**What You Will Bring to Us**:

- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CHRP or in process of obtaining, is preferred.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification (Parts I and II) and up to date First Aid including CPR, or willingness to complete within the first year of employment.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a Human Resources and/or Health & Safety role, preferably within a unionized work environment. Experience within the healthcare sector is an asset but not a necessity.
- Working knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Well-developed analytical, organizational, research and project/time/records management skills.
- Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures and generate creative solutions and new approaches to challenges.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships (internal and external).
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills with accuracy in details.
- Adept at working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

- Provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
- Be willing to obtain any, and all, required immunizations as set out by legislation or regulations.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
