The Peel District School Board (PDSB) is a racially, culturally and linguistically diverse board that serves 155,000+ students and approximately 17,000 employees. Reporting to the General Counsel and Governance Officer, the Privacy and Information Officer will develop, implement, and monitor a privacy and information program, strategies and controls across the organization to drive regulatory compliance together with managing privacy incidents, access to information requests and records management while balancing privacy protection and the provision of services.

**Responsibilities will include**:
Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive organizational privacy program to ensure Board compliance with all privacy legislation, including strategies, controls, policies, and procedures to also assist with the implementation of privacy risk management, including the assessment of vulnerabilities through oversight testing and reporting.

Conduct privacy assessments, audits, privacy impact assessments, risk assessments to address privacy risk and meet privacy compliance obligations and to challenge, review and recommend privacy controls to build into business processes and programs.

Design and establish risk assessment metrics and standards to demonstrate compliance, including all manner of reporting to senior leadership, Trustees and third parties as required.

Develop, administer and lead processes for handling privacy incidents, privacy complaints and privacy breaches including investigations, implementation of recommendations for mitigation, conduct root cause analysis, resolve issues and reporting.

Administer the overall records information management program and practices of the Board including the development of policies, procedures and compliance review.

Provide professional development and training, consultation, guidance and advice across the organization to support the departments, to drive regulatory compliance requirements and assist in implementing compliance initiatives to help manage regulatory risk.

Provides input into privacy related communications to a variety of audiences.

Liaise with external governing bodies and agencies, including the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario’s Office.

Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in providing leadership and consultation related to privacy and/or information management issues.

A post-secondary education in a records and information management, or a related field. Completion of a certified records manager designation or formal training/certification in records information management is an asset.

Well-developed organizational/business awareness and ability to deal with all levels of staff and stakeholders.

Ability to effectively communicate privacy and records management information of a complex nature to a variety of audiences demonstrating excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Strong problem solver with well-developed critical thinking skills.

Ability to manage a large workload independently.

Proven ability to manage sensitive information and issues with tact, sensitivity, confidentiality, and integrity.

Some experience in electronic document management systems would be considered an asset.
