McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a Trust Administrator in our Calgary office. As a member of the Finance team, you will play a key role in coordinating all trust fund activities for the Calgary office along with supporting the national trust team to deliver on various goals and objectives.

**Please note that this role offers a hybrid workweek. Each week will combine both working at home for a few days and working in the office for the balance. Your hybrid schedule will start once you join McMillan**

Hours of Work: 8 or 8:30a.m. to 4 or 4:30p.m., Monday through Friday.

**What You’ll Do**
- Coordinate trust fund activities while ensuring meticulous record-keeping and accuracy.
- Prepare trust cheques and manage incoming/outgoing wire transfers.
- Review and process all transactions thoroughly to ensure adherence to internal trust policies, in order to detect and mitigate potential exposure to fraud.
- Complete daily and monthly trust account reconciliations.
- Address stale-dated cheques.
- Respond to trust accounting queries.
- Deposit cheques, obtain certified cheques, or arrange for bank drafts off-site as needed.
- Liaise with and maintain relationships with banking representatives.
- Preparation of T5 and NR4’s for trust account interest.
- Understand trust accounting processes and provincial law society rules to ensure compliance.
- Generate and submit reports for various clients.
- Manage inactive trust balances:

- Research inactive trust fund balances at the firm to determine ownership and establish how to handle them going forward.
- Follow up with lawyers to ensure timely resolution of these balances.
- Meet with lawyers as necessary to assist in completing forms or letters for returning trust money.
- Assist the Finance Team with various ad hoc tasks and projects.
- Perform other accounting duties as required.

**What You Bring**
- 0-10 years of experience
- Your history includes a graduate of a recognized community college or university (or relevant work experience) with a focus in accounting
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Communicates effectively with others (e.g., team members, co-workers, managers/supervisors, clients, firm members and contacts) verbally and in writing, to deliver clear, concise, logical, compelling, and timely messages.
- You are detail-oriented and are able to effectively meet deadlines and work well in a team setting.
- Identifies and solves problems and makes sound decisions quickly and effectively and involves others as appropriate and looks for creative and innovative solutions.
- Effectively manages time of self and/or others, by scoping out work, identifying and focusing on priorities, and assessing the necessary resources to get the job done.
- Ability to flourish under pressure and consistently deliver results for our clients.
- You embrace evolving technology and have strong skills in Microsoft Office products particularly with Excel, Adobe Suite and virtual communication tools including Teams, Webex and Zoom.
