**Salary**: $28.90/hr

Position Status: Seasonal

Closing Date: Open Until Filled

The Seasonal Heavy Equipment Operator will gain experience across multiple departments including but not limited to our Roads, Environmental Services, Parks, and Sewer & Water crews in their various disciplines at different times throughout the year. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the general repair and maintenance of City roadways, operating Heavy Equipment at the Transfer Station and Landfill Site, overnight snow removal during the winter season, and/or assisting with Sewer & Water digs. The individual will perform a variety of work including hauling, grading, paving, snow plowing, sweeping, and other duties as assigned. The individual will operate a variety of equipment in a safe and responsible manner including the completion of all pre-operational equipment checks.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a valid ‘DZ’ Class Ontario Driver’s License. Valid ‘AZ’ license considered an asset.
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ previous work experience directly related to heavy duty equipment operation and maintenance would be an asset.
- Must have a clean driving record
- Previous municipal experience an asset
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, with no restrictions
- Considerable knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles; working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Ability to drive and operate a variety of heavy equipment under varying conditions
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures.
- Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service.
- Must be able to be available for overtime and call-ins.
