The Vice President is responsible for leading, managing, and strategic planning across various departments, including Human Resources, IT, and Finance. This role ensures the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet the Institute’s current and future needs. The Vice President is dedicated to achieving and contributing to the Institute’s overall goals and objectives.
Additionally, the Vice President oversees the successful implementation of contracts, ensuring all commitments are met or exceeded. The VP will build strong relationships with team members to ensure operational goals are understood and that staff have the necessary tools and resources to align their behavior with organizational outcomes, aiming to exceed key group expectations. Compliance with provincial and local legislation, as well as organizational policies and procedures, is also a critical responsibility.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Leadership**
- Oversee the allocation of material, human, and financial resources to implement organizational policies.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives in organizational development, people management resource allocation, and infrastructure/ IT strategy to support Oshki-Wenjack' s strategic goals.
- Provide visionary leadership
**Organizational Culture and Development**
- Foster a values-based, shared leadership model that promotes consultative decision making and collective responsibility
- Guide the institute in adopting best practices in HR Management, focusing on professional development, diversity, equity and inclusion within the context of Indigenous education and community engagement.
- Mentor and support staff in achieving their development goals, ensuring alignment with the institute’s strategic objectives
**Financial, Resource, and IT Infrastructure Management**
- Oversee all aspects of financial planning, reviews and approvals, budgeting, reporting, and forecasting, ensuring the financial sustainability and integrity of Oshki-Wenjack’s.
- Manage procurement, vendor selection, and contracts related to financial, physical, and IT infrastructure resources.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, IT, and infrastructure policies, procedures, and regulations, acting as a key advisor to the President on financial and operational matters.
- Review and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates and staffing requirements for departments and services**Administration**
- Lead the strategic planning process across areas of responsibility, addressing opportunities and challenges with innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate operations with business development, finance, human resources, and marketing strategies
- Authorize and organize the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions
- Engages in multiple internal and external committees and working groups, addressing topics such as direction, finance, management processes and operational issues.
- Contributes actively at the senior executive level of the Oshki-Wenjack Institute and serves as a spokesperson for the President when appropriate internally and externally.
- Is a resource by providing mentorship and direction to staff in development of portfolio goals, objectives and policies.
- Effectively communicate the Institutes’ mission, values, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Address issues transparently and maintain open lines of communication.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes
- Assist in the selection of senior managers, directors or other executive staff within the Academic and Student Success Departments; delegate the necessary authority to them and create optimum working conditions
- Attend all required meetings
- Build and foster strong relationships with key groups, operations and service to develop a provincial wide brand
- Skillfully and tactfully negotiate
- Provide updates to the President on the Institutes
- Remain updated on the latest trends to ensure that the Institute remains competitive and maintains adherence to industry standards
- Manages multiple teams and projects

**COMPETENCIES REQUIRED**
**Specific Knowledge**
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and Indigenous communities
- Knowledge in fiscal management
- Understanding of organizational leadership and development
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
