**Summary**:
The Skills Elevate program facilitates the process of integrating newcomer professional youth aged up to age 30 into the Canadian workplace. Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) has experienced newcomer youth facing extra challenges when attempting to enter the workforce. Therefore, we aim to break down these barriers by enhancing their overall life and employability skills.
**Description**:
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Time spent teaching 20%
- Present and facilitate interactive workshops on an ongoing basis to groups of 8-15 professional immigrant youth
- Enhance the curriculum with activities, videos, handouts, etc.
- Assist in the development and performance of workshop information and facilitation
- Time spent coaching clients 20%
- Provide one-on-one employment support to workshop participants
- Aid workshop participants in their job search to secure employment in a field related to their professional background
- Time spent on employer outreach 40%
- Outreach and network with employers to develop and maintain relationships with employer partners
- Time spent on administrative tasks 15%
- Support the program by maintaining documentation and compiling workshop records
- Conduct intake meetings with prospective program clients
- Support the overall function of the program by supporting colleagues, program initiatives and marketing
- Time spent on other relevant duties, 5% such as, but not limited to:
- Liaise with guest speakers and CCIS staff
- Research and compile documents, modules, and information on current youth-related trends
- Guide participants to services at CCIS and in the community
- Provide instructional coverage for other classes within Skills Elevate in the absence of the primary instructor.
**Qualifications**:
- Degree/Diploma in Business, Career Development, Human Resources, or related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in facilitating workshops/instructing
- Excellent networking and relationship development skills; A strong professional network would be an asset
- Good classroom management skills
- Knowledge of the local labour market, job search strategies, employability skills, and community resources for newcomers
- Effective presentation and public speaking skills
- Familiarity working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and an appreciation for cultural diversity
- A current Police Information Check is required with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Strong work ethic, leadership, and initiative
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
