Position Summary

The Quality Control & Lab Assistant will be responsible for performing various quality control and laboratory tasks and assisting the Quality Assurance team with operational, administrative and compliance tasks by adhering to regulations, approved specifications, and Standard Operating Procedures

**Job Duties**
- Serve as an integral member of the Quality Assurance team, interact cross-functionally to maintain testing, quality, qc admin responsibilities, compliance objectives and ensure that the organization meets its goals
- Assist in conducting various laboratory tests, samplings, quality control checks on samples, document scanning and organization, filing/recordkeeping, products/materials releases, and packaging
- Ensure that all samples/products have been tested/inspected to company and regulatory standards, specifications, and within tolerances
- Use of laboratory equipment such as HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography), pH. meter, Petri dishes, and ATP meter.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical equipment as needed
- Conduct line inspections and product sampling to specifications as well as perform quality testing on incoming products
- Maintain detailed records of daily lab testing and product inspections.
- Participate in conducting investigation for non-compliances, out of specification results, risk assessment, root cause analysis and implementing CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action)
- Ensure compliance with safe work practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and all applicable regulations
- Assist in any task the Head of Facilities designates as an immediate priority to preserve the physical or environmental security of the building, its contents, or staff
- Attend any training session designated by the company
- Complete other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree in science-related field (preferably analytical chemistry, biotechnology, food/ pharmaceutical sciences)
- Previous work experience in a Quality Control role in production or laboratory is an asset
- Understanding and functional knowledge of manufacturing, laboratory equipment and technique
- Relevant experience and working knowledge of HPLC equipment and methods
- Knowledge in chemical processes, statistics, and comfortable using software for analysis of results
- Good computer skills with proficiency in MS-office suite package
- Able to work independently when given a task, have strong attention to detail and be self-motivated
- Be a team player able to co-exist with other staff and assist when able
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Criminal Record check required
- Must have G driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Reliable attendance is mandatory
- Excellent workplace housekeeping is essential

**Working Conditions**
- Available for work on the weekends as needed and variable/flexible shifts
- Required PPE provided: Scrubs, gloves, hairnets, and safety shoes

**Physical Requirements**
- Able to stand for long periods of time
