The Director, Human Resources is responsible for providing strategic and operational Human Resources leadership by planning, directing and managing the Human Resource Department. The Director provides leadership to staff, directs the overall performance of the department, and provides consultation and guidance on all aspects of human resource management throughout the organization.

**Job Duties**:
Overall responsibility for the Human Resources department in the implementation and delivery of programs, services and tools that support and complement the WCB strategic goals and priorities.

Designs and directs the implementation of Human Resources priorities including the development and management of short and long term strategic goals. Works with each of the department Managers to develop performance management frameworks, establish performance measures and targets and create reports on departmental results.

Manages a multi-disciplinary group of professionals, providing overall leadership, guidance, support and direction including hiring staff, conducting performance reviews, identifying training and development needs, coaching and motivating staff; and coordinating work activities.

Partners with leaders throughout the organization to provide advice and/or guidance to enhance the overall effectiveness of people throughout the organization.

Contributes to annual planning and budgeting, identifying and assessing opportunities for improving service delivery and achieving WCB strategic goals.

Communicates and/or presents to Executive, Board, and Union on any or all aspects of HR planning, goals, objectives, timelines and measurable outcomes.

Builds alliances, professional relationships and partnerships with external and internal stakeholders in order to achieve goals and objectives.

Pursues professional development through any of the following: literature reviews and research, training courses, continuing education, seminars and conferences and industry networking.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
University degree in a related discipline

Minimum six (6) years experience in Human Resources, including three (3) years specializing in one or more HR discipline, plus three (3) years progressive management experience

Strong knowledge of Manitoba Labour law and other relevant legislation

Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) in a Windows environment

Excellent research, analytical and problem solving skills

Superior written and verbal communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver presentations and reports to senior management and other stakeholders

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and discretion

Ability to lead, manage, mentor and motivate staff

Ability to plan and manage multiple demands

Ability to manage, promote and lead organizational change

Ability to develop departmental plans and manage budgets

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be considered an asset

Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset, but is not required
