**The Position**:
Mara Renewables has an opportunity for a Regulatory Specialist at our Dartmouth, NS location. The Regulatory Specialist's primary role is to ensure the company's products adhere to regulatory standards across international markets, thereby enabling successful product launches and sustained operations. This position plays a crucial role in conducting regulatory research, facilitating regulatory approvals, staying updated on regulatory changes, and mitigating potential risks. By actively participating in project teams and maintaining documentation, the Regulatory Specialist ensures organizational compliance, fosters strategic decision-making, and supports the company's growth objectives in a dynamic regulatory environment.
**Responsibilities**:
The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
**Regulatory Research and Compliance**:
- Conduct thorough research to understand regulatory requirements for the company's products in various international markets.
- Keep up to date with changes in the regulatory landscape in which the company operates.
- Report on potential risks and opportunities arising from regulatory changes that could impact the business.
**Regulatory Approvals and Engagement**:
- Facilitate the process of obtaining regulatory approvals for products in new geographies or for new intended uses.
- Directly engage with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and successful product launches.
**Project Support**
- Actively participate in project teams, providing regulatory guidance and support to ensure that all projects comply with the necessary regulatory requirements.
**Documentation and Reporting**:
- Assist in the generation and maintenance of regulatory customer statements and other documentation required to support the regulatory aspects of the business.
- Provide regulatory evaluations and feedback on proposed changes to products or manufacturing processes to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant regulations.
**Operational Compliance and Support**:
- Support the process of facility registrations and the acquisition of import/export permits required for operation in new geographies, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
**Competitive and Strategic Insight**:
- Assist in maintaining a comprehensive database of competitor regulatory approvals, assisting the company in staying informed about the competitive landscape and regulatory strategies.
**Required Skills & Experience**:
- A post-secondary degree in a relevant field is required. Preference is given to degrees in science (e.g., biology, chemistry, pharmacology) or law. An equivalent combination of training and experience will also be considered.
- At least 2 years’ experience conducting in-depth research and investigations, including the ability to identify pertinent information from regulatory bodies, industry reports, and other relevant sources.
- Excellent reading comprehension skills with the ability to interpret complex laws, regulations, and guidance documents from relevant authorities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail in analyzing regulatory documents and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to draft technical and customer-facing documents, including regulatory submissions, dossiers, and reports.
