Environmental Field Technician

**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Field Testing**: Travel to residential and commercial properties to perform sampling for mould, asbestos, and general indoor air quality assessments.
- **Sample Collection and Handling**: Collect air and material samples, ensuring proper labeling, completing Chain of Custody and handling protocols are followed.
- **Reporting**: Analyze laboratory results and prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations.
- **Logistics Coordination**: Transport samples to designated laboratories or arrange for courier services to ensure timely analysis.
- **Client Communication**: Provide clear explanations to clients regarding test procedures, findings, and suggested actions.
- **Equipment Maintenance**: Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to industry standards.
- **Scheduling Flexibility**: Work independently to manage appointments based on client needs and location efficiency.
- **Sales Support (Post-Training)**: After a 3-month training period, assist in handling incoming sales calls and provide job quotations to prospective clients.
**Work Schedule & Flexibility**:
- Generally, the role follows a **9 AM - 5 PM schedule**, but flexibility is required depending on job locations and volume.
- Some days may require early starts for long-distance jobs (up to 4 hours away) but may allow for early finishes.
- Other days may involve only one job, allowing for time off or general administrative work during the day.
- Once handling scheduling responsibilities (post-training), the technician can plan jobs efficiently to balance workload and client convenience.
**Qualifications**:
- **Experience**: Ideally 1+ year of experience in environmental testing or a related field.
- **Certifications**: iAC2 (International Association of Certified Indoor Air Consultants) and IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification).
- **Skills**: Strong analytical abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, and proficiency in report writing.
- **Independence**: Proven ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and make informed decisions without constant supervision.
- **Travel Flexibility**: Willingness to travel extensively across Ontario, including areas up to 4 hours from Toronto in all directions.
- **Physical Requirements**: Comfortable working in environments that may contain pets, as some clients have animals on their premises.
**Compensation**:
- **Salary**:$53,000 annually (negotiable with relevant experience)
- **Vacation**: Three weeks of paid vacation annually.
- **Expenses**: Reimbursement for mileage and company-provided mobile phone.
- **Training Period**: A 3-month training period where you will be given on-field visits and reporting tasks. Once you are comfortable with how we work, the phone will start ringing to you so you can quote jobs and book them yourself.
- **No Additional Benefits**: There are no health or dental benefits included.
