The Director, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) holds a transformative and strategic role focused on advancing the organization's HSE capabilities and attaining its HSE goals. As a catalyst for achievement, the Director is tasked with developing and executing comprehensive HSE strategies that support the Enterprise’s various businesses. Working closely with the Vice President of Sustainability and other key stakeholders, the Director will align the HSE strategy with the Enterprise’s broader sustainability goals. This leadership position embodies the commitment to not only meet but exceed industry standards in health, safety, and environmental practices, setting a benchmark for excellence in the energy and infrastructure sector.

**Responsibilities**:
**Strategic Leadership and Vision**

Responsible for leading the development and communication of HSE tools, resources, systems, and operating procedures, establishing standards that exemplify industry leadership. This role involves guiding the integration of comprehensive health, safety, and environmental management systems across businesses, fostering a culture that prioritizes these principles throughout the organization.

**Program Development and Management**

Responsible for developing strategic HSE initiatives and planning the implementation of the initiatives, ensuring effective and efficient return-to-work processes. This includes collaboratively formulating strategies with employees, managers, and union leaders to instill a proactive safety culture and enhance workplace safety and environmental responsibility.

**Compliance and Risk Management**

Responsible for ensuring the organization's adherence to all HSE regulations and standards, supporting a proactive compliance framework that spans across the businesses. This role involves strategic oversight of comprehensive risk assessments, workplace inspections, and the management of incident investigations to ensure thorough investigation, documentation, and implementation of corrective actions.

***Team Leadership and Development**

Responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive worker injury prevention programs, aligning them with the latest safety standards and legislative requirements. This leadership role involves actively guiding and supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committees, ensuring effective communication and implementation of HSE initiatives across all departments these bodies function effectively and contribute significantly to the organization's HSE objectives. The Director plays a crucial role in organizing safety meetings, facilitating open and constructive dialogue around HSE matters, and fostering a culture of safety-first throughout the organization.

***Stakeholder Engagement and Communication**

Responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including worker’s compensation authorities, health professionals, industry partners, and other stakeholders, to enhance the organization’s HSE strategies. This role demands strategic engagement and collaboration to ensure HSE initiatives are not only aligned with organizational goals but also responsive to stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements. The Director is responsible for overseeing and updating the organization's health, safety, and environmental action plans, ensuring they are completed promptly and effectively communicated.

***Operational Oversight and Incident Management**

Responsible for overseeing worker’s compensation claims and the return-to-work program, ensuring these processes are efficiently and compliantly handled. The Director must track and report the Health, Safety & Environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to guide policy and strategic decisions. A critical part of the role involves overseeing incident management processes, focusing on rapid response, thorough investigation, effective communication of the process, and training across the organization to ensure all employees are well-versed in incident management procedures.
