**Overview**: Stong’s Market is seeking a self-starting, analytical, team player to fill a newly created role as the company’s Financial Analyst. This is a great opportunity for an individual who is seeking to take the next step in their career who has a hands-on, collaborative approach and enjoys interacting in-person with a variety of people both inside and outside the company. This position reports to the Controller and requires considerable financial expertise, with a highly analytical mindset used to question the status quo and put forward ideas and recommendations that will improve the efficiency and profitability of the company. This position will play an important role in the behind-the-scenes operations of a local BC success story poised for growth.

With two current locations, Stong’s is a BC owned and operated independent grocer, well-known for its abundance of local grocery products and community involvement This position is based at our North Vancouver office requiring regular travel to our Vancouver location.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare in depth financial reports by compiling and aggregating data from the company’s POS and Accounting systems (and any other data sources available to the company) often requiring complex spreadsheet design
- Work with retail Management team a resource for financial analysis
- Communicate results and provide recommendations to Controller based on analysis of the financial reports
- Continuously (could be multiple times a day) ensures accurate and relevant pricing information
- Work with the Controller and the accounting team to assist, as needed, with cash reconciliations, check runs, and AP/AR transactions
- Work the Controller on expense control, budgeting, forecasting and proformas
- Create and/or update financial policies, procedures and processes
- Attends on-site, off-site and conference call meetings with upper management and/or employees
- Gets involved in the local community and is a strong ambassador for the Stong’s brand

**Des**i**red Skills**:

- Minimum 5 years post-secondary experience working in a medium to large organization and multiple locations
- CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) Designation (or in progress)
- Previous experience with POS and Accounting systems will be beneficial
- Experience with both financial and cost accounting (theoretical and practical)
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (both in-person and written)
- Embraces new and innovative ideas with the ability to be an agent for change
- Demonstrates the ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment
- Innovates and thinks outside the box
- Prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines and communicates well with supervisor and others on status of workload
- Shows strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Is proficient in using MS Outlook, Excel, Word
- Places a high degree of value on self-development and is not afraid to learn new skills
- Currently eligible to work in Canada
