**Position Overview**:
The Trade Foreman is assigned the tasks of pre-viewing work requests for all required information; routing jobs according to Departmental guidelines for scopes of work; and assisting with delegation of work as required, according to and as outlined by the Manager of Maintenance. The intent of the role is to provide quality assurance of incoming work and ensure that all relevant avenues for information are checked before assignment.
**Duties**:
Pre-view work requests for proper entry parameters and information. Edit work requests as prescribed by Manager of Maintenance to ensure proper data tracking.
Assist with delegation of work requests as required, and as outlined by Manager of Maintenance.
Assist with emergency situations as required by Supervisors of Maintenance and Manager of Maintenance.
Perform on-site assessments of DSBN building systems and components.
Perform on-site investigations of Maintenance work requests.
Examine and analyze blueprints, schematics, and specification sheets.
Take responsibility for all work performed - ensuring compliance with all standard construction and maintenance practices - including building codes, regulations, and standards.
Ensure administrative tasks, policies, and procedures are properly performed and followed according to Board, Supervisor and/or Manager direction.
Abide by terms of Collective Agreement.

**Qualifications**:
**For Subclass of Mechanical - one or more of the following**:
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic - 313A (Ontario College of Trades)
G.1 certificate (O. Reg 215/01)
Plumber - 306A (Ontario College of Trades)
Electrician - Construction and Maintenance - 309A (Ontario College of Trades)
**For Subclass of Architectural - one or more of the following**:
Painter and Decorator - Residential and Commercial - 404C (Ontario College of Trades)
General Carpenter - 403A (Ontario College of Trades)
General Cabinet Maker - 438A (Ontario College of Trades)
Locksmith - 259L (Ontario College of Trades)
**Skills and Requirements**:
Must have a thorough understanding of architectural and/or mechanical systems and engineering - dependent on subclass being hired.
Must have thorough understanding of Maintenance processes, standards, and specifications.
Exemplary organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills are essential to the role.
Working knowledge of asset inventory, maintenance programming, planning, and scheduling is considered an asset.
**Compensation and Benefits**: Salary Grid Level 1-S, $33.97 per hour plus allowances.
This is a permanent, 40-hour position in the CUPE Union Group including group benefits, an OMERS pension plan, and incrementally progressing paid vacation. The Maintenance Systems Specialist will work primarily from the DSBN Education Centre (191 Carlton Street, St. Catharines); and as required and assigned throughout the DSBN school system.
**Hours of Work**: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday)
