The Colleges of Nursing and Pharmacy & Nutrition are collaborating in their search for a dynamic and passionate fundraiser to join their colleges. Divided between the two colleges, this role will spend approximately 0.50FTE of their time with each college, to ensure an equitable distribution of support.
The College of Nursing is the largest non-departmentalized college at the University of Saskatchewan. As a distributed college, nursing operates as one academic unit from three main locations in the province: Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert. A variety of activities occurs at each primary site including teaching, learning, research, administration, and community development. In addition to our primary sites, undergraduate nursing education is available to students from several distributed sites across the province. The use of innovative practices and leading distributed learning technology allows students to learn where they live.
Established as the School of Pharmacy in 1913, the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition now has a unique combination of two health disciples and professional programs. The College serves as a model for integrating health promotion and education, health care delivery, community outreach and engagement, and interdisciplinary research. Researchers within Pharmacy and Nutrition advance knowledge and pursue solutions to health and healthcare system issues through three streams: Clinical and Applied Health Research, Nutrition Science, and Drug Discovery and Development.
**Primary Purpose**: To significantly increase and diversify revenue to both the College of Nursing and College of Pharmacy and Nutrition by obtaining philanthropic support from donors and prospects (including individuals, corporations, foundations) who have the interest and capacity to make gifts. You will plan, develop, solicit, and manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors who have the interest and financial capacity with the goal of maximizing and diversifying financial support for both colleges.
**Nature of Work**: This position will report to both the Dean, College of Nursing and the Dean, College of Pharmacy & Nutrition with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Associate Vice-President Advancement and Chief Development Officer.
You will build and maintain collaborative professional relationships with a cross-section of prospects/donors, faculty, staff, alumni, students, volunteers, university relations, and other stakeholders to meet stated objectives. You will garner an in-depth understanding of College programs, needs, and stakeholders. The work requires a proactive approach in a complex environment and the ability to communicate effectively to a diverse audience by a variety of methods and communication mediums. You will work both independently and collaboratively with university relations, alumni relations and communications specialists, college faculty and administration, and key stakeholders to meet strategic goals. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships and modeling best practices is essential to success. This position makes discretionary decisions and uses judgment to determine appropriate procedures in alignment with legislative requirements and institutional policies. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential to ensure information provided to others is correct. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced. You will be knowledgeable about, and ensure alignment with, university fundraising policies and procedures and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines and Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) ethical principles and standards. Travel, evening, and weekend work may be required. Consequence of error is significant to the reputation and profile of both Colleges and the University.
**Accountabilities**:
- ** **Actively manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors at all levels, who have the ability to make gifts to support college and institutional goals.
- Working with University Relations, identify and qualify new prospects for the college.
- Ensure success through strategic cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gift prospects, including personal visits and asks, and moving prospects from identification to closure.
- Become knowledgeable of college education and research programs and projects to identify matches with donor interests
- Collaborate with communications, advancement and alumni relations staff as appropriate to prepare proposals, reports, gift agreements, letters and other fundraising materials, ensuring that the flow of information and materials is handled efficiently and smoothly
- Ensure contacts with donors and prospective donors are recorded in the University alumni and donor database in a timely and accurate manner and compile reports to support metrics
