The Office of the Associate Vice-President Research and Dean of Graduate Studies requires the services of a Research Navigator with excellent communication skills who will work closely with our team, UPEI’s Office of EDI & Human Rights, Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) and other faculty, student researchers and research staff to advance key themes in the UPEI Strategic Research Plan and the CRC EDI Action Plan.

Reporting to the Manager of Research Administration, Partnerships, and Innovation, the Research Navigator will support key strategic research objectives such as leading internal research communications (content creation for website updates, social media etc.) to promote campus awareness of research initiatives, processes and celebrate successes; helping to ensure internal research processes are equitable, simplified and communicated to researchers; supporting internal collaborative research events to bring researchers together; and promoting equity in research across campus. Improved communications contribute to a more equitable and efficient dissemination of research opportunities and resources.

This new role aims to promote transparency of processes within the UPEI scholarly community, improve access to research resources for CRCs and other researchers, and create an increased sense of engagement, morale and ambassadorship at UPEI. The Research Facilitator will embrace equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and Indigenous reconciliation (EDIA-IR) as core values in UPEI’s research enterprise.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Communicate to the internal UPEI Research ecosystem, creating promotional material, updating webpages, social media content creation
- Understand, simplify and communicate the details and rules for the research funding lifecycle
- Manage funding support webpage content to enhance research grant opportunities
- Provide best practices and guidance on communicating EDI statements within funding proposals and assist with funding submissions
- Plan events to foster scholarly collaborations and connections
- Collaborate with the UPEI communication team to support external communications that celebrate research successes and awards, ensuring they are communicated effectively both internally and externally
- support the day-to-day activities of other research staff and researchers
- Acts ethically, openly, honestly, and respectfully to build and maintain an environment of trust, safety, and well-being
- Undertake other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any field. Knowledge of research processes is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, especially written/content creation, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- Demonstrable attention to detail and accuracy is required
- Technical writing, and/or familiarity with grant writing and funding opportunities would be an asset
- Proficiency in Google Apps, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Microsoft Suite would be a definite asset
- Strong commitment to EDIA-IR. Experience working on initiatives that support underrepresented or Indigenous communities in research would be an asset
- Must be able to work in a team environment, independently as required, and multitask on a variety of duties and projects
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively
