Quality Assurance Manager for Edibles

We’re a microprocessor (edibles) who co-packs for other brands (and we also have two brands ourselves that will be a main area of focus). This position will lead and manage the following areas:
- Maintaining overall quality assurance program and compliance with all relevant regulations
- R&D for new edible formulations
- Managing and maintaining overall operations
- organization. The position will have a “hands on” side to it and you will also wear a number of hats.
**Responsibilities**:
- Maintain and oversee production (while also playing an active and hands on role in leading production).
- Maintain and oversee a comprehensive quality assurance program.
- Conduct regular audits of the production process
- Maintain systems for tracking, reporting data and record keep as part of a quality management system
- Collaborate with other departments to identify areas for improvement and support an innovative product development program
- Ensure all products are tested for quality and purity before release
- Stay up-to-date on industry regulations
- Manage all aspects of product testing
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, suppliers’ quality teams and third-party testing labs
- Monitor production processes to resolve quality control issues
- Participate in the creation, review, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), investigation non-conformances/deviations and customer complaints as they relate to quality
- Read, understand, and follow safe work procedures
- Other duties that may be assigned by the company from time to time.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, food science) considered an asset and/or technical Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- At least 2 years of experience in quality assurance management in a regulated industry (e.g., food industry)
- Experience in the cannabis industry is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards
- Experience in the development of new edible products would be considered an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in MS Office and strong computer skills generally
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter, critical thinker and team oriented
**Hours/location**:Full time
**Compensation**: Starting at $75,000 per year, 2 weeks paid vacation (and you get to work with really nice people). At this stage, we don’t yet have benefits set up (but plan to at some point).
**About us**:
Our microprocessor is 100% woman owned and located in Dartmouth, NS. We’re building a long term sustainable company (unlike most within the industry). We co-pack for other edibles brands and are also building our own brands out (Best Kind Edibles and Billingsley’s Holistic Edibles).
After two years of building out our microprocessor and brands, we’re now ready to begin operations and the QA person will be our first hire. You’ll be coming in on the ground floor of what is sure to be a fun, interesting and exciting journey.
