We now have an opportunity for an experienced FX Supervisor
Role Title: FX Supervisor (Team Lead)
Reporting to: Head of Department
Purpose: Why you’re here at Brown Bag Films
- To oversee the creation of FX Assets within the studio and our overseas partners, maintaining quality and an efficiently managed workflow.
- To manage the department through support, training, collaboration and leadership.

Delivery: What you produce
- Artistically accurate FX assets in collaboration with the Art Department
- Managed solutions to problems including tool & artist development
- Technical documentation to guide artists through the creation of FX assets.

Measurements: How we measure it
- Completion of tasks within agreed schedule
- Feedback from shows’ production team
- Team development and sustainability
- Managed tool development for the department

**Key Responsibilities**
- Responsibilities: What you are regularly responsible for doing
- Managing the delivery of FX assets through the daily supervision of the FX team; maintaining quality and style required under the technical specifications of the project.
- Conducting technical reviews for the in-house and overseas assets.
- Providing creative and technical leadership and support for the in-house and external FX teams.
- Reviewing time log reports of the FX team.
- Conducting regular one on ones with the FX Artists and submitting quarterly performance reviews.
- Proactively problem solving; creating the IT and pipeline tickets to address any technical problems for the department.
- Collaborating with the production and CG teams.
- Contributing to CG Ops meetings for the shows in production.

**Key Requirements**
- Requirements for the role: Things that help you do your job (what is essential & what is desirable)
- Knowledge
- Excellent understanding of VFX for animation: dynamics, fluids, particles, as well as FX compositing as part of an animation pipeline.
- Experience
- Proven track record in leading a group of FX Artists in long form animation production or in feature film work.
- Have worked on a broad variety of show styles creating photo real and stylized FX.
- Experience of coaching or mentoring artists.
- Experience of remote and/or outsource management with an emphasis on clear communication and follow through.
- Experience with asset tracking systems (e.g. shotgun) (desirable).
- Experience in FX/Look pipeline development (desirable).
- Technical skills
- An excellent working knowledge of creating FX in Maya.
- An understanding of lighting, composition and animation timing.
