**Position**: Selection Specialist, French & Multilingual Materials

Full time (37.5hours/week)

Library Services Centre provides services for Canadian libraries, including bibliographic services to over 200 libraries, universities and private businesses across the country. We are currently recruiting for a Selection Specialist, French & Multilingual Materials to join our Selection Services Department.

**Selection Specialist, French & Multilingual Materials**

Multilingual & French ARP selection involves selecting current year materials for libraries on an ongoing basis, following profiles and budgets. Multilingual & French ARPs can be expected to include Adult, Young Adult and Children’s materials in various formats ie: print and AV.
- Select French materials for French ARPs; manage French ARP budgets and profiles, communicating with libraries as necessary
- Create French Material catalogues and selection lists for dissemination to libraries and to be utilized for French ARP fulfilment
- Review materials arriving on Approval Plans, adding to French & Multilingual inventory where appropriate
- Assist in the selection of Multilingual materials; manage Multilingual ARP budgets and profiles, communicating with libraries and vendors as necessary
- Other duties as assigned relating to selection services

**Required skills and qualifications**:

- MLIS, Library Technician or significant relevant professional experience an asset
- French and/or Multilingual proficiency an asset, spoken, written and/or reading comprehension
- Proven expertise in selecting materials for public library collections an asset
- Knowledge of Excel and the ability to manage library materials budgets
- Knowledge of the acquisitions and technical needs of public libraries an asset, as is a working knowledge of the Canadian book industry
- Superior inter-personal and communication skills
- Must be able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
