**Main Purpose and Function**

Reporting to the Asset Manager - Facilities within the Facilities Sustainment team in the Real Estate and Facilities Management (REFM) department, the Business Analyst - Facilities Information and Data Asset Managment is reeponsible for leading and/or supporting a wide range of projects that involve providing business analysis and data support to inform strategic, operational and financial decisions to improve performance and deliver value to the city.

We are looking for someone who can work with people to understand business needs and who has the interests and expertise in data and analytics to distill business and data requirements for our facility management processes. You can understand and evaluate how business functions are undertaken with the people in our organization. You can synthesize and draw relationships and correlations between data sets. You have experience processing large volumes of data, analyzing and visualizing the data using BI tools. You can identify and interpret data trends/issues and make recommendations to improvement business, operations and system processes. You help to transform information into knowledge that supports better business processes, service delivery and informed decision making.

Work will include leading and/or supporting a range of projects that involve objective and comprehensive business analytics, data analysis, system design research, business process reviews/re-engineering and management reporting, and for providing recommendations based on this work. This role is responsible for facilitating decision-making and presenting recommendations to the Facilities Asset Manager, division/branch heads, senior management, and business unit managers to support business decision making processes.

**Specific Duties/Responsibilities**

The Business Analyst - Facilities Information and Data Asset Management responsibilities will include:

- Support the Facilities Sustainment Asset Manager and work group team on a number of projects concurrently, with a wide range of contributions. Produce reasoned and systematic analysis to provide input for key decisions concerning the needs and priorities for facilities asset management.
- Support staff and management in Facilities Sustainment and other areas of the City to structure, develop, understand, and utilize asset information to provide metrics, financial, lifecycle, operational and facility performance data, with quantitative and/or qualitative information, to understand facilities asset management issues and opportunities, and to inform tactical and strategic asset management evaluation and decision-making processes.
- Leverage asset management principles to inform specific project, system, or business related projects or system developments or process improvements.
- Support the development and improvement of departmental and corporate facilities asset data systems, data management processes, and data integration strategies, including related business processes.
- Conduct research related to a specific management or project-related question, e.g., peer surveys, best practices, recommended standards, and key performance indicators.
- Lead or support the full lifecycle of business process reviews from current state to future state process mapping and implementation, using a variety of tools such as workflow and data/metrics analysis, fit/gap to develop recommendations for improvement and to identify associated implications
- Undertake various tasks to support project work components such as stakeholder consultation, developing reports or presentations to City Council, and/or managing external consultants.
- Listen and communicate effectively with managers, staff, and stakeholders in the team and across the wider organization to understand the issues, needs, concerns, ideas, challenges, limitations, constraints, impacts, and opportunities for a program, project, or process that they are undertaking.
