Construction Skilled Labourer

Whitson Contracting is currently accepting resumes at this time for Skilled Labourers for work in Edmonton and Surrounding areas.
**Project Types**:

- Commercial new build and/or renovations
- Industrial plant sites new build and/or renovations
- Industrial water and drainage which includes underground storm drains/tunnels/shafts and/or wastewater wells/basins/chambers.

**Schedule**:

- Monday to Friday, 8-10 hours a day
- Must be flexible to work overtime, travel and work weekends or holidays to accommodate business needs.

**Location**: Edmonton and Surrounding Areas. Must have a vehicle to travel to worksites.
**Duties**:

- Perform manual demolition, site clearing, trenching, and ground prep using hand and power tools.
- Assist with formwork, placing rebar, mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete as required.
- Excavate, backfill, and compact soil using appropriate tools or small equipment; assist with the installation of underground piping, drainage systems, and chambers.
- Load, unload, and organize construction materials and tools; assist in staging materials for crews.
- Operate or assist with operation of light equipment (e.g. plate tampers, jackhammers, cut-off saws, etc.); support safe operation of larger equipment by spotting or signaling.
- Participate in confined space entry and monitoring tasks as required, following all safety protocols.
- Direct vehicle and equipment movement on site to ensure safe operations in congested areas.
- Maintain clean and organized job sites; remove debris and hazards to ensure safety and productivity.
- Consistently follow all Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation, site-specific safety plans, and Whitson’s policies and procedures.
- Work closely with site supervisors, tradespeople, and other labourers to complete daily tasks efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned in response to project needs or site conditions.

**Qualification**:

- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience as a construction labourer
- Valid Drivers License, with a clean 3-year driving history

**Requirements**:

- Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test. The test includes legal drugs (Cannabis/THC) and illegal drugs
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check (when required)
- Must have of able to obtain CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 Certification
- Additional training considered an asset: Confined Space Entry and Monitoring, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform and Equipment Experience (Skid Steer, Telehandler)
- Previous experience wearing a respirator considered an asset: Half/Full Masks, SCBA, SABA

**Working Conditions**:

- Ability to stand, bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and climb for long periods of time.
- Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Expected to handle noise and vibrations on the job.
- Ability to handle noise and vibrations on the job Working outdoors in rain, shine or snow. You'll need to thrive in diverse weather environments
