Intermediate Environmental Technician

**Opportunity Description**
CPP Environmental is currently seeking an intermediate level Environmental Technician to join our team. We are seeking individuals with the following primary experience and interests:
- Post-disturbance biophysical assessments for reclamation and remediation plans, including Detailed Site Assessments.
- Soils assessments and mapping.
- Rare plant surveys.
- Working with GIS personnel on conceptual reclamation designs.
- Aggregate exploration plans and execution, operating plans, and commercial feasibility assessments.
- Caribou mitigation plans (and other wildlife related mitigation plans).
- Reclamation and construction monitoring.
- Supervision of field activities.
- Experience with wildlife sweeps/surveys is desirable, although not necessary.
- Knowledge of land management planning.
- Working knowledge of reclamation techniques, technologies and practices.
- Experience conducting pre-disturbance and post disturbance assessments.
- Strong vegetation (trees, shrubs, forbs and grasses) and soils identification skills.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge and/or experience in wetland classification is desirable.
- Ability to work with confidence either independently or in a team setting.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, set priorities, and meet rigid deadlines.
- Professional, safety conscious, and client focused attitude.
- Knowledge of and use of GIS tools (QGIS) and basic mapping.
- Knowledge and use of field data loggers, GPS equipment, etc.
- Valid first aid and CPR, ATV operator, H2S and other certificates are desirable.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in an environmental science.
- Qualify for membership in training with either the Association of Alberta Forest Management Professionals, Alberta Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, Alberta Society of Professional Biologists, or Alberta Professional Planners Institute.

- Minimum 2 years of experience conducting natural resource planning.
- Physically apt to work long days in all kinds of terrain and weather.
- A valid Alberta driver’s license.
- Be proficient in conducting field work in remote locations.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
