**Job Summary**:
Northplex Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and strategic **Purchasing Manager** to join our dynamic team; to lead and optimize our procurement function. This is a **full-time, in person position** working from both our **Head Office in Acheson, AB** and our **Production Facility in Barrhead, AB**.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities within the organization. This is a key leadership role that directly supports our project, production, and sales teams, ensuring timely access to materials and services while driving cost savings and efficiency. This includes leading the procurement team, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring that purchasing processes are **efficient, cost-effective, and strategically aligned** with company goals.

You will play a key leadership role in driving **continuous improvement initiatives**, developing **strategic sourcing plans**, and supporting the timely needs of both the **sales and production departments**.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead, manage, and evaluate the purchasing department and its activities.
- Ensure fair, competitive, and value-driven purchasing processes.
- Source materials in collaboration with the Project Managers, Senior Leadership Team / Plant Management.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the purchasing function.
- Improve purchasing processes related to service levels, cost control, and quality.
- Create and enforce procurement policies and manage departmental budget.
- Stay up to date with market trends and supplier capabilities.
- Review existing supplier terms and evaluate for potential early pay discounts and other purchasing strategies
- Create and use vendor scorecards to assess performance and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and execute supplier negotiation strategies.
- Train, coach, and develop purchasing staff to ensure departmental success.
- Oversee procurement-related projects as required.

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of accounting software (Sage 50) considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in developing talent and managing team performance.
