The North Shore Winter Club (NSWC) is seeking a highly energetic and talented hockey professional to join our organization as the Director, Hockey. The NSWC has a rich and long history of hockey and is one of the leading minor hockey programs in BC. ***Key Objective of the Director, Hockey Role**:
Reporting to the COO/GM the Director, Hockey will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the NSWC hockey program. The Director, Hockey is an integrated member of the NSWC leadership team working closely and collaboratively with the Club’s management group. This position is the face of NSWC hockey, shapes the future of hockey at our Club and is responsible for the growth and success of the program and the development of our players. They direct the hockey faculty and work collaboratively with the Minor Hockey Committee, as well as managing the day-to-day operation and implementation of all hockey related activities, working closely with administrative, player development, management and coaching staff.

**Key Deliverables and Responsibilities**:
Duties to include but may not be limited to:
**Program Management**:

- Responsible for setting the long-term strategy for a successful hockey program and development of our hockey players
- Supports all ice user groups within the Hockey Department; Minor Hockey (female & male), Men’s Hockey, Women’s Hockey and Academy programs
- Oversees fiscally responsible programming that fits with the members needs and expectations
- Manages and mentors the hockey faculty and fosters collaboration within the team; recruits, hires, manages and develops all coaching staff, in conjunction with hockey faculty; guide/lead faculty in their responsibilities
- Organizes Coaches for all Hawks & Rep teams, winter & spring; organizes coaching workshops/clinics along with hockey faculty
- Liaises with other associations, governing bodies (i.e. Hockey Canada, PCAHA, BC Hockey) to ensure all NSWC programs are following and respecting guidelines, changes, rules and regulations set forth by said associations/government bodies
- Grows the number of hockey players in program based on Club needs; involved in the membership recruitment and onboarding process for new hockey-oriented members
- Organizes tryouts and player evaluations; responsible for communication to membership on tryout policies & procedures; support for setting teams
- Works with hockey faculty to provide coaches a standard list of drills for practices; oversees overall long-term athlete development program for the NSWC’s hockey players
- Develops and supports new coaches, with an eye to their continuing involvement in the association and their progression to higher level
- Involved in U6-U9 to ensure all new players and parents have a familiar face in the department; arranges new member skates for all Initiation players
- Oversees and coaches the Cookie Monsters program (5-6 year olds); connects with new members and guests in the program; makes their first NSWC experience very positive
- Oversees the ice schedule in a way that the ice usage is maximized and efficiently used; working with all ice user groups
- Sets direction for Spring & Summer programming; ensure ice is generating revenue in off-season months through in-house spring teams and ice rentals, coordinate spring team logistics and hire coaches (along with hockey faculty), manage and build fiscally responsible programming
- Provides assistance to fundraising events and tournaments
- Ensures programs are delivered to the highest standard

**Communication**:

- Direct, clear and consistent communication with the COO/GM on all relevant member and hockey matters
- Provides regular updates to the COO/GM, Minor Hockey Committee, and Member Services
- Attends all NSWC Management and MH Committee meetings
- Is available to meet with NSWC families throughout the year for constructive feedback on their child’s development

***Miscellaneous**:

- Expectation of considerable front-line support for all NSWC teams and coaches; attends and runs practices with the coaches at least one hour per day
- Option to coach a NSWC team
- Leads U6 & Cookie Monsters sessions
- May provide specialized skill sessions and clinics
- Collaborates with all departments within Club (Member Services, Facility Operations, Athletics and Food & Beverage)
